increase the exposure level over the total working
period.
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration
should also take into account the times when the
tool is switched off or when it is running but not
actually doing the job. This may significantly
reduce the exposure level over the total working
period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the
operator from the effects of vibration such as:
maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the
hands warm, organization of work patterns.
Use
CHARGING BATTERY (figure 9)
Battery of new tools is not fully charge.d
Connect charger to power source as illustrated.
Insert battery into charger.
Red light L will turn on indicating that the battery is
being charged.
Remove battery from charger after charging
period has ended thereby lengthening the
service life of the battery.
IMPORTANT:
After 3 hours the charging operation will be
completed, and the battery may be used, even
though the red light may still be on (the red
light may require more than 3 hours to turn off).
While charging, the charger and the battery may
become warm to touch; this is normal and does
not indicate a problem.
Ensure that the outside surface of the battery is
clean and dry before inserting into charger.
Do not charge at temperatures below 0°C and
over 40°C; this will seriously damage the battery
as well as the charger.
Do not remove battery from tool while it is running.
A battery that is new or has not been used
for a longer period does not develop its full
capacity until after approximately 5
charging/discharging cycles.
Do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a
few minutes of operation; this may result in a
reduction of operating time and battery efficiency.
The battery must be kept separate from the
natural environment and should not be disposed
of as normal domestic waste (symbol 8 will remind
you of this when the need for disposing occurs).
Prior to disposal protect battery terminals
with heavy tape to prevent short-circuit.
If you anticipate long periods of non-use for the
tool, it is best to unplug the charger from its power
source.
Operation
ON/OFF(Figure 10)
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch A
and keep it depressed and to switch off the
machine, release the On/Off switch A.
If the rotational direction switch B to the
center position is not possible press the
On/Off switch A.
SPEED CONTROL FOR SMOOTH STARTING
(Figure 11)
The machine runs with variable speed between 0
and maximum, depending on the pressure applied
to the On/Off switch A. Light pressure results in a
low rotational speed thus allowing smooth,
controlled starts.
Do not strain the machine so heavily that it comes
to a standstill.
CHANGING DIRECTION OF ROTATION (Figure 12)
Operate the rotational direction switch 5
only at a standstill.
The rotational direction switch B is used to reverse
the rotational direction of the machine. However,
this is not possible with the On/Off switch A
actuated.
Right Rotation: Press the rotational direction
switch through as figure 12 (normal operation:
drilling, screwdriving, etc.).
Left Rotation: Press the rotational direction
switch through as figure 12 (for loosening and
unscrewing screws and nuts).
When not properly set in left/right position,
switch A can not be activated.
CHANGING BITS (Figure 13)
Push bit to end position in bit holder G
Do not use bits with a damaged shank
TORQUE CONTROL (VARITORQUE) (Figure 14)
Limits the amount of output torque delivered by
the chuck (6 clutch settings).
When turning in a screw, first try VariTorque
position 1 and increase until the desired depth has
been reached.
Carry out a practical test to determine with which
of the 6 settings of the torque setting ring D the
screws are driven flush into the material.
1st adjust, low setting, e. g., small screws, soft
materials.
6th adjust, high setting, e. g., large screws, hard
materials.
With the correct setting, the clutch disengages as
soon as the screw is driven flush into the material
or the set torque is reached.
Select a higher setting when driving out screws, or
set to the "Drilling" symbol.
