TROUBLESHOOTING
The following chart contains information designed to assist in diagnosing and resolving
saw problems.
SYMPTOM
Saw will not operate
Saw runs slowly
Makes an unusual sound
Motor runs but blade won't
spin
Heavy sparking occurs inside
motor housing
Retractable guard will not
close or is slow to close
Saw depth adjustment not
holding

Troubleshooting
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• No supply of power
• Brushes worn or sticking
• Trigger is faulty
• M otor components open or short
circuited
• Blunt or damaged blade
• Motor is overloaded
• Mechanical obstruction
• Armature has shorted sections
• B lade retaining nut is loose, or
reducing spacer incorrectly fitted.
• Broken gear shaft or teeth
• Brushes not moving freely
• A rmature short circuited or open
circuited
• Commutator surface not clean
• R eturn spring detached or broken
• G uard is bent.
• Mechanism fouled by sawdust.
• D epth locking lever requires
repositioning.
REMEDY
• Check that power is available at source
• D isconnect power, open brush caps and
ensure brushes move freely in the holders.
Check whether the brushes require replac-
ing as outlined above.

• Re-sharpen or replace blade
• R educe pushing force on saw. Ensure the
cut isn't closing and pinching the blade.

• T ighten blade retaining nut. Ensure the
arbor reducing spacer and flange
washers are correctly fitted.

• D isconnect power, remove brushes, clean
or replace.

genuine Triton replacement parts).
