The mixer and the plug-in power supply unit are suit-
able for indoor use only. Protect them against dripping
water and splash water, high air humidity, and heat
(admissible ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
Even with the mixer switched off, the power supply
unit connected to a mains socket has a low current
consumption.
Do not operate the mixer or immediately disconnect
the power supply unit from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the mixer, to the
power supply unit, or to the mains cable of the
power supply unit,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit was
dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the units must be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.
A damaged mains cable of the power supply unit
must be replaced by the manufacturer or skilled per-
sonnel only.
Never pull the mains cable of the power supply unit
for disconnecting the mains plug from the socket;
always seize the plug.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
No liability for any damage will be accepted if the
mixer or the power supply unit is used for other pur-
poses than originally intended, if it is not correctly
connected or operated or not repaired in an expert
way.
If the mixer and the power supply unit are to be put
out of operation definitively, take them to a local
recycling plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in the mains lead of the power supply unit
are coloured in accordance with the following code:
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal in the plug which is marked
with the letter N or coloured black.
2. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
3 Applications
The 4-channel mixer MPX-460 with VCA crossfader is
suitable for any private or professional DJ applica-
tions. It allows connection of up to four units with line
level (e. g. CD player), up to three turntables, and a DJ
microphone. The unit offers prefader listening to all
audio sources via headphones and continuous adjust-
ment of the crossfader.
The mixer can either be placed as desired or be
installed into a console.
4 Connection
Switch off the mixer prior to connecting any units or to
changing any existing connections.
1) Connect the stereo audio sources to the corre-
sponding phono input jacks of channels 1 to 4
(white jack LEFT; red jack RIGHT):
- units with line level output (e. g. minidisk record-
er, CD player, cassette recorder) to the jacks
LINE (27);
- turntables with magnetic system to the jacks
PHONO (21). Connect the ground of the turn-
table to the corresponding clamping screw GND
(20) above the jacks.
2) Connect a DJ microphone either to the 6.3 mm jack
DJ MIC (9) at the front of the unit or to the 6.3 mm
jack DJ MIC (28) at the rear panel of the unit.
3) Connect the amplifier(s) to the balanced XLR mas-
ter output (23) and/or to the unbalanced phono
master output (24). As a basic adjustment, set the
selector switch OUTPUT VOLTAGE (19) for the
level at the master outputs to "1 V".
4) If a monitoring system is available, connect the am-
plifier of the monitoring system to the stereo output
BOOTH (25).
5) For sound recordings, connect the sound recorder
to the output REC (26). The recording level is inde-
pendent of the position of the master control (15).
6) The input channels can be monitored via stereo
headphones (impedance ≥ 8 Ω) ahead of the faders
(8) [see chapter 5.5 "Pre Fader Listening to the
channels"]. Connect the headphones to the jack
PHONES (17).
7) Finally connect the power supply unit to the 3-pole
jack (22) for the power supply (15 V~/1.5 A) and
then to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
5 Operation
Prior to switching on, the master control (15) and the
monitor control BOOTH (1) should be set to minimum
to prevent switching noise. Then switch on the mixer
with the switch POWER (18). The LED POWER ON
(3) lights up. Finally switch on the connected units.
Caution! Do not adjust the audio system and the
headphones to a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage your
hearing! The human ear will get accusto-
med to high volumes which do not seem to
be that high after some time. Therefore, do
not further increase a high volume after
getting used to it.
After operation, switch off the mixer with the switch
POWER. If the mixer is not used for a longer period,
disconnect the mains plug of the power supply unit
from the mains socket as the power supply unit has a
low power consumption even with the mixer switched
off.
