3. Making a Measurement in Lying
Lie on your back. Adjust the cuff to the
same height as your heart (e.g. with a
pillow).
Breathe deeply 5 or 6 times to relax before
measurement.
Measured data may differ very slightly
depending on the posture during measu-
rement.
Keep your arm still, and do not talk.
Correct measurements can only be
achieved when the cuff is adjusted at
the same height as your heart. If the
cuff is lower (higher) in position than
the heart, the measured reading tends
to become larger (smaller).
