4. Mounting
∗ Open the cover by gently inserting a small screw driver in the slot at the bottom of the unit, and then slightly twist
to release the cover from the base.
∗ Remove the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) carefully from the base by releasing the screw which fastens the PCB.
∗ Mount the base at the location and height selected for optimum coverage. The height can be anywhere from 1 to
5m above floor level.
Use the knockouts at the back of the base for running connection cables.
∗ Fix the unit firmly to the mounting surface and place the PCB back in the base. Make sure the head of the fixing
screws does not touch the PCB circuitry.
5. Wiring
Connect the wires to the terminal block in the following order:
1. Connect the TAMPER terminals to a normally closed (N.C.) 24-hour protection zone of the control panel. The
tamper contact will open when cover is removed.
2. Connect the ALARM terminals to a normally closed (N.C.) burglar protection zone of the control panel. The relay
contact will open when movement is detected or during power loss.
3. Connect the 12V DC (+) and (-) terminals to an 8 to 16V DC power source and check for correct polarity. It is
advisable for the power supply to be backed-up by a battery.
6. Vertical Adjustment
The vertical adjustment scale (printed on the upper right corner of the PCB) and the pointer on the base indicate, in
degrees, the approximate vertical angle between the horizontal line of the unit and the middle detection layer. To
change the vertical pattern adjustment, loosen the screw which fastens the PCB to the base. Slide the PCB up or
down to the desired angle and then tighten the screw firmly.
7. Pulse Count Selector
The detector is selectable for single-shot or pulse-count operation.
Put the MODE jumper on "S" for single shot; and "P" for pulse count. The detector requires 1 pulse to activate the
alarm in single-shot operation. This is recommended for narrow corridor protection.
Pulse-count mode further improves immunity against false alarms. The circuit first senses an alarm (pulse 1) and
then goes into alarm stand-by mode for 30 seconds. If during the 30 second stand-by period a second alarm event
occurs (pulse 2), then the detector will go immediately into alarm mode and the stand-by period will be extended for
another 30 seconds. If there is no second alarm pulse during this 30 second stand-by period, the detector returns to
normal condition.
NOTE: The HAA52 is factory preset for Pulse Count "P".
8. Walk Test
1. Apply 12VDC power and allow 3-5 minutes for the detector to warm up and stabilise before
testing.
2. Adjust the vertical pattern angle for optimum performance. The adjustment is a combination
of mounting height and coverage distance.
3. Walk into the protected area at a speed of 1 step per second across the protection beams
and watch the LED. The LED will light up whenever you enter or exit a protection beam if
the detector was set to "single-shot" operation.
