Troubleshooting
Introduction
Problem: The tape does not stick
Possible Cause:
1. The tape may not have enough moisture. Is the
water bottle full?
2. Is the water hose clogged?
3. Is the brush clean?
4. Are the bristles on the brush worn?
5. Is there enough pressure on the brush?
6. Is the water too cold or too warm for your
environment or the tape you are using.
7 If you are taping on cartons, are the cartons dirty or
made from recycled paper?

This troubleshooting section describes potential problems that you may encounter while
working with the Hand Taper, outlines the possible causes for these problems and
guides you through the corrective actions.
Follow the procedures outlined in the Operation and Maintenance sections of this
manual to help avoid situations where problems arise. To replace any parts on the taper,

Solution:
1. Fill the water bottle.
2. Remove the water bottle and disconnect the water
hose. Run warm water through the hose.
3. Clean the brush. See page 23.
4. Check the bristles of the brush. If they do not
extend above the top of the tank, they are worn and
the brush needs to be replaced.
5. Adjust the pressure pad weight. See page 13.
6. Adjust the thermostat if your model has a heater. See
page 15. If your model does not have a heater add
warmer or cooler water to the water bottle.
7. The tape may not stick properly on some recycled
paper cartons, or may not stick if the carton is dirty.
Increase the water level and/or the water
temperature. See page 11. For information about
