Troubleshooting
Problem:
The cutter does not cut the tape.
Possible Cause:
1. The cutter is dirty and not moving freely.
2. The moving cutting blade is not rising high enough
to cut the tape.
3. The cutter is worn or dull.
Problem:
The solenoid engages but the motor will not run.
Possible Cause:
1. The motor switch is too far from the switch cam on
the shift yoke.
2. The machine is sluggish and not operating properly.
Problem:
The motor continues to run after a length of tape is cut.
Possible Cause:
1. The switch is too close to the switch cam on the
shift yoke.
2. The roller on the motor switch does not rest in the
center of the switch cam when the machine is off.

Solution:
1. Clean and grease the cutter. See page23.
2. Adjust the moving cutting blade. See page 47.
3. Replace the cutter. See page 49.
Solution:
1. Loosen the screw in the switch bracket and slide the
switch assembly toward the switch cam. See Figure
J. Tighten the screw after making the adjustment.
2. Clean and lubricate the clutch, gears, shift yoke,
shift rod, cutter operating link, and the cutter. This
should remedy most of these problems. Marsh
suggests using a brush to apply grease to these
parts. Also, check these parts for damage or
jamming. See Figure J. When checking the machine,
be sure each part moves freely by moving it
manually.
Solution:
1. Loosen the screw in the switch bracket and slide the
motor switch away from the switch cam. See Figure
J. Tighten the screw after making the adjustment.
2. Hold the yoke screw steady and loosen the spacer
nut by turning it counterclockwise. Adjust the
position of the switch cam so that the roller on the
motor switch rests in the center of the switch cam.
When the switch cam is in the correct position,
tighten the spacer nut while holding the yoke screw
steady. See Figure J.
