ENERAL SAFETY NORMS
Read the instructions carefully. Become familiar
with the commands and the machine. Users
who ignore the safety, operating and mainte-
nance instructions are responsible for damage
and consequent losses.
Do not let children come into contact
with the tool. Keep all the people away
from the work area.
Keep all bystanders at least 15 m away from
the unit during operation.
Before starting the machine, make sure the cut-
ting cord is not touching any branches, stones,
etc.
Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial
light.
Be aware of the risk of injury ta the head, hands
and feet.
When working with the unit, always wear sturdy,
rubber-soled footwear and body protection ap-
propriate to operation of the unit.
Bear in mind that the owner or user is responsi-
ble for accidents or risks involving other people
or their property.
When working with the unit, use the safety at-
tachments supplied.
Never use the appliance barefooted or wearing
sandals. Never use the appliance when wearing
loose clothing that could get caught up in it.
When working, wear long trousers, safety boots
or shoes with non-slip soles, goggles and a
shield protecting your face from flying objects,
gloves (preferably leather) and anti-noise ear
muffs or helmet. In work areas where there is a
risk of falling objects, protect your head with a
safety helmet.
Before starting, adjust the handle to your size.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal-
ance at all times.
Maintenance and repair operations, as well as
replacement of the cord or safety devices, must
always be performed with the motor switched
off and the power cable disconnected from the
socket.
Frequently inspect the condition of the cutting
head, All damaged parts must immediately be
replaced.
Follow all the required precautions when under-
taking replacement.
Use only replacement parts recommended by
the manufacturer.
All guards must be installed properly before op-
erating the unit.
Attention ! Danger! The cord head continues to
rotate for a few moments after the switch is
released.
Keep unit clean of vegetation and other materi-
als.
Keep connecting wires away from the tools.
Turn off the unit and pull the main plug before
set-up or cleaning of the unit, and before testing
for tangled or damaged wires.
Always disconnect the appliance from the
socket when leaving it unattended.
Regularly check the cables for damage or wear.
Before use, make sure that the cable and ex-
tension cable are not damaged or worn. If the
cable is damaged during use, do not touch it but
disconnect it from the power supply immedi-
ately.
The unit must not be used if the connecting
wires are not in perfect condition.

The appliance may only be cleaned and the cord
head adjusted with the motor switched off and
the plug disconnected from the power supply.
Make sure the ventilation slots are kept clean
and unobstructed.
Cord Sets - Make sure your cord set is in good
condition. When using a cord set, be sure to use
a cord that is heavy enough to carry the current
that your unit wilI draw. An undersized cord set
will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in
power and overheating. The table (below) shows
the correct size to use depending on the cord
length and nameplate amperage rating. If in
doubt, use the next heavier size Iine gauge. The
smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.
Only switch on the appliance if your hands and
feet are well away from the cutting area.
The appliance must be checked and serviced
regularly; repairs may only be made by an au-
thorised repairman.
Never mount metal cutting devices.
Take precautions against the risk of injury from
the cutting device which adjusts the length of
the cord.
Put unused tools away. When not in use, store
the tool high up in a dry closed room, out of
reach of children.
Switch the motor off when transporting the ma-
chine.
For reasons of safety, connect the tool to a
power socket protected by a differential switch
with a max. current of 30 mA.
Never grip the tool above your hips; never lift a
machine while the blade is still turning.
Check the work area before starting work; re-
move any stones, broken glass, nails, wires and
other solid objects that may be caught and
ejected by the cutting device.
