Electrical system for towing hitch
Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:

In the luggage compartment
Covering of luggage trunk bottom

Left-hand side covering
-
Covering of the D-pillar on the left and right
-

Inside the vehicle
Battery cover on the right
-
Upper covering in the area of the B-pillar

Roof spar covering on the left

3. Bore a hole of 18.5 mm for the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/2) on the left side of the vehicle's
rear. If there already is a cable leadthrough, it should be used.
4. Starting in the luggage trunk, lead the socket end of the cable harness through the cable
leadthrough to the outside and from there to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/1).
5. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/2).
Installing the socket
6. Fit the socket gasket and connect the cable harness to the socket housing in accordance with
the pin assignment plan (Fig. 1/1) and push the rubber grommet against the socket.
7. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/1) using the supplied screws and nuts.
8. Secure the cable harness using cable ties.
Connecting the tail lights
9. Lay the cable end with the left-side marking to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/4).
10. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the left tail light and connect it to the matching
counterparts on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
11. Lay the cable end with the right-side marking along the cable harness of the vehicle above
the doors to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/9).
12. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the right tail light and connect it to the matching
counterparts on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
Installing the signal transmitter
13. Lay the cable end with the signal transmitter on the left side to the front up to the driver's cab
and fasten it there in a suitable manner.
Note: The signal transmitter (Fig. 1/7) must be perceptible while driving in a fully
loaded vehicle!
