This guide must be translated (where applicable) by the dealer in the language of the country where the equipment is used.
For your safety, comply strictly with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
KRATOS SAFETY cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring following use other than that provided for in these instructions; do not use this equipment
beyond its limits!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
When used with an anchorage hook, the KRATOS SAFETY telescopic pole allows a fall protection system (sliding fall arrester on an anchor line or retractable fall arrester, for
example) to be installed above the ground. The system includes a telescopic pole with a suspension hook at the end, and an anchoring hook. The references are set out in the table
below.

install them from the ground at a significant height (> 7 m). Therefore, whenever possible we recommend installing a sliding fall arrester on an anchor line instead, for
significant heights (> 7 m).
The anchoring hooks must be installed on a structure, or a marked anchoring point, located above the user (R>12kN - EN795:2012 or R>10kN - EN795:1996). An anchoring
hook is a connector, and as such is considered personal protective equipment. YOU MUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTORS BEFORE USE.
The readability of the product's markings must be checked regularly.
Make sure that the work is done in such a way as to limit the pendulum effect, as well as the risk and the height of a fall. For safety reasons before each use, make sure that no
obstacle can prevent the device unwinding normally in the event of a fall (free space under the user's feet). The minimum free space below the user's feet must be: see fall arrester
instructions.
Before and during use, we recommend that you make the necessary arrangements for a safe rescue, should this be required.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user's safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (< -30°C or > 50°C),
prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting,
etc.
This equipment is for the sole use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person. Warning! Certain medical conditions
can affect user safety. If you have any doubts, contact your doctor.
Before each use, check the condition of the connector: make sure that it is operating correctly, is not deformed, shows no signs of corrosion, and is not damaged.
In case of deformation or if you have a doubt, the connector must not be used any more.
Do not remove, add or replace any component of the connector and the pole.
COMPATIBILITY FOR USE:
The anchoring connector must be used as part of a fall arrest system as defined in the product data sheet (EN363) to guarantee that the dynamic force exerted on the user during
the arrest of a fall is maxi 6 kN. A harness (EN361) is the only body-gripping device that may be used. An EN361 harness should be connected to a fall arrest system by EN362
connectors. Attachment points that are not marked A or A/2 must not be used for connecting a fall prevention device. It can be dangerous to create one's own fall protection
system in which each safety function can interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is important to read the recommendations on using each component in the system
before use.
INSPECTIONS:
The recommended service life of the equipment is 10 years (in accordance with the annual examination by a competent person authorized by KRATOS SAFETY), but it may be
increased or reduced according to use and/or the results of the annual inspections.
The equipment must be checked systematically in case of doubt or after a fall and at least every year by the manufacturer or a competent person authorised by the manufacturer,
to guarantee its conditions and thus the safety of the end user. The product data sheet should be completed (in writing) after each verification. The date of inspection and date of
the next inspection must be indicated on the data sheet. It is also recommended to put the date of the next inspection on the product.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE: (These instructions must be strictly observed)
During transport, keep the pole and the connector in the packaging, well away from any cutting surface. Clean with a cotton cloth or a soft brush. Do not use any abrasive
products. The metal parts can be wiped with a cloth impregnated with paraffin oil. Bleaches and detergents are strictly prohibited. The connector and the pole must be stored in a
temperate, dry and ventilated area in the packaging, protected from sunlight, heat and chemical products.
Description
INSTALLATION
For the clarity of the drawings (opposite), the fall protection system which must be installed on the
suspension hook is not shown, just a connector.
1- Install the pole in the ring on the suspension hook.
2- Unfold the tubes that make up the telescopic pole one by one until the right size is achieved. Start with
the thinnest tubes and work towards the thickest ones. To do this, open the black levers, unfold a
section /tube and then close the black lever to lock the section in place.
Only unfold the first tube (the thinnest one) if you want to reach a height slightly above 8 m.
Only use the extension piece if you want to reach a height slightly above 9 m.
Place the assembly in the suspension hook.
3- Remove the pole from the ring on the suspension hook. Check that the anchoring hook has
automatically closed and locked.
Place the pole in a secure location!
4- To release the anchoring hook, proceed as for step 1, separate the hook from the assembly, then refold
the tubes one by one to bring the hook back down. To do this, open the black levers, refold a section
/tube and then close the black lever to lock the section. Start with the thickest tubes and work towards
the thinnest ones.
Warning! Each tube is equipped with a bottom stop to prevent the tubes from becoming separated. Do not
pull too hard on the tubes to prevent damage to the bottom stops.
Given the weight of the self-retracting fall arresters (> 4 kg when Lgth = 10 m), it is even more difficult to
