PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
RAIL REINFORCEMENT (without roof exit) TAC-0180 (Fig. 10)
A rail reinforcement must be attached to the fall arrester rail for ladder or rail projections of
more than 500 mm.
The rail reinforcement provides sufficient stability when the ascending person has reached
the top of the ladder, also in the event of an eventual fall.
The rail reinforcement must extend downwards over at least two mounting brackets.
An end stop must be installed at the end of the ascent route (TAC-0050 or TAC-0060) (not
included, must be ordered separately).
Safety Information
When removing the runner from the climbing protection rail or loosening the safety harness from the
runner, additional safety measures in accordance with EN 345/355 are necessary as long as there is a risk
of falls!
8.1
Installation of the rail reinforcement
8.1.1 Installation kit
Rail reinforcement preassembled with 2x mounting brackets and 1x fall arrester rail, 1.12 m
in length.
The fall arrester rail marks the end of the ladder system (end of the ascent route).
8.1.2 Tools needed for installation
1 Torque wrench SW 19
1 Torque wrench as required for the fastening technology
Appropriate drills and setting materials for the on-site fastening technology
PPE
At least 2 persons are required for installation.
8.1.3 Preassembly
• The rail reinforcement is delivered fully assembled
8.1.4 Installation instructions
Do not use grease!
The rail reinforcement must be installed so that the stop-catches of the fall arrester rail face
upwards.
The preassembled fall arrester rail is secured by means of a butt connector (TAC-0040)
with two hot-dip galvanised M12x30-8.8 mushroom head bolts to achieve a firm connection
to the underlying rail. This prevents the rails from becoming offset.
At 20°C, the gap must be at least 1 mm, but may not exceed 3 mm.
At least 2 mounting brackets must be installed for each rail reinforcement.
The possibility of the runner moving out during installation at the upper end of the climbing
protection rail must be prevented by a temporary end stop (cable tie).
This stop may not be removed until a fixed end stop (TAC-0050 or TAC-0060) has been
mounted.
If the ascent route ends on a platform, then the climbing protection rail must end at least
1000mm above the top of the platform.
8.1.5 Installation dimensions to be met
See sketches on pages 8 and 22
8.1.6 Alignment
An offset of the rails and the diverter of more than 0.2 mm should be avoided, so that the
runner can freely go over the connection joints.
The distance between the steps must not be altered by the installation of the exit device
(target dimension is 280 +-5mm)
