12.1.3 Installation instructions

Do not use grease!
These installation instructions refer to the installation of SKYTAC rails on aluminium rung ladders
with a rung spacing of 280 mm to 300 mm and a rung height and tread depth between 28 mm and
30mm.
Installation takes place using the system component rung bracket (part no. TAC-0190).
Begin at the top end of the complete ladder.
The SKYTAC rail is placed flush with the end of the rails (end of the ascent route), and centrally
and perpendicularly aligned to the rail holes on the rung.
The rail parts must be installed with the stop-catches facing upwards towards the ladder.
The SKYTAC rail will be mounted on the top rung by means of a rung bracket.
The subsequent rung brackets are placed at a distance of not more than 1200mm from each
other, regardless of whether rail joints are present. But at least 1 rung bracket must be attached
for each rail segment.
The self-locking nuts must be tightened with a torque of 71 Nm.
In the event that the lowermost end of the SKYTAC rail is not already supported by a bracket,
then an additional bracket must be attached here.
The beginning of the ascent route (= bottom edge of rails) starts maximum 140 + 5mm above the
entrance level.
The lengths of the rail parts are to be chosen so that the rail joints are always positioned centrally
between two rungs (with a distance of 140 to 150 mm to each rung).
This prevents a collision between the butt connectors and the rungs.
The climbing protection rails are attached with two galvanised mushroom head bolts M12x30-8.8
by means of the butt connector (TAC-0040) in order to secure a firm connection.
This prevents the rails from becoming offset. At 20°C, the gap must be at least 1 mm, but may not
exceed 3 mm.
The possibility of the runner moving out during installation at the upper end of the climbing
protection rail must be prevented by a temporary end stop (cable tie).
This may only be removed when the rail part above it is firmly mounted.
If the ascent route ends on a platform, then the guide rail must end at least 1000 mm above the
top of the platform.
The maximum angle of inclination of the straight guide rail is +-15° to the vertical (see fig. 14).
