Instruction for work
2.4 P. T.O. shaft
2.4.1 General
– Before the work with the P.T.O. shaft
the tractor must be switched off. Pull
out the ignition key. Secure the tractor
against movement!
– Do not ever switch on the P.T.O. shaft in
transport position! Danger of material
damage and dropping parts!
– When mounting the cardan for rotor
drive pay attention that they are
connected on the side of the drive with
the same cross position, which enables
the undisturbed lift of the rotors.
Danger of material damage!
The cardan for the swather drive from tractor is
eqipped with homokinetic joint, which must be on
machine's side.
The cardans for rotor drive are equipped with overload
safety clutch. The overload safety clutch protects the
tractor and the machine against damages only in
working position and when crossing the swaths. The
P.T.O. shaft must not be switched on in transport
position.
Do not interfere with overload safety clutch
adjustments. The loss of warranty.
If overloaded the rotation movement is limited with
pulsative slip of the clutch.
–
To prevent the wear out of the
overload safety clutch you must
switch off the P.T.O. shaft immediately.
–
Compare the measured value of
rotation moment RM of the overload
safety clutch with values in the table.
If the values deviate, contact SIP
seller.

2.4.2 P.T.O. shaft length adjustment and mounting
–
Nobody is allowed to stay between
tractor and machine when lifting the
swather with the hydraulics.
–
Danger of material damage: Do not lift
the swather before the P.T.O. shaft
length is adjusted.
Rotation moment (RM)
900 Nm

–
To adjust the length of the P.T.O. shaft pull the both
halves apart.
–
Place the P.T.O. shaft halves on the machine's side
(1) and on the tractor's side (2).
–
Homokinetic joint must be mounted on the
machine's side!
–
Check if at maximum lifting the covering of the
P.T.O. shaft halves is minimum 20 mm. Check that
the P.T.O. shaft with the swather being lifted or
lowered does not sit on the block (min. 50 mm).
–
Hold both halves together and measure out the
right length.
–
After mounting the P.T.O. shaft (3) secure the
protection on both sides with chain (4).
– For further procedures of measuring
and shortening take a look at the
Instruction for work of the P.T.O. shaft
manufacturer.
