Panel connection
For Y-∆ starting, use the terminals of the electric pump power supply cables according to the indications in the control panel wiring diagrams.
20. GROuNd cONNEcTION
The Yellow/Green ground terminals in all electric pump cables must be connected to the grounding circuit of the system before
the other terminals are connected. If the electric pump is disconnected, these must be the last terminals to disconnect.
For flameproof electric pump versions, there is an external supplementary ground terminal installed on the mobile part of the
cable clamp. The installer is responsible for connecting this terminal to the grounding circuit of the system.
21. MOTOR PROTEcTOR cONNEcTIONS
21.1. ELEcTRIc PuMPS WITh ThERMaL PROBES
aTTENTION
All electric pumps are equipped with thermal probes as standard supply (terminals marked with symbols T1
and T2). It is obligatory to connect them to a suitable power source cut-out device.
Thermal probes are normally closed bimetallic switches installed in the motor windings. Once a temperature of 132°C (270°F) has been exceeded,
the switches open and interrupt the power supply to the remote control coil, thus stopping the electric pump.
The coil will be energized again when the probes have cooled (114°C/237°F). The probes can be connected at a max. voltage value of 250V and
have a max. capacity of 1,6A cos ϕ = 0.6.
A 24V - 1.5A power supply is recommended.
21.2. ELEcTRIc PuMPS WITh cONducTIVITY PROBES
aTTENTION
The conductivity probe is either installed in the oil chamber (for -E versions) or in the electric motor (for -...X... versions) and
detects water infiltrations . If the electric panel is equipped with a conductivity detector, this will activate when the electric resistance is less than 30
kΩ owing to the presence of water. In order to detect conductivity, the terminal marked "S" and a shunt of the Yellow / Green earth terminal must be
connected to the device.
The conductivity detector is generally used to close an alarm circuit if water is detected in the oil chamber or motor. The alarm circuit can either have
lights and/or be acoustic. For explosion-proof pumps, the specifications of the device must be compatible with the classification of the area liable to
the risk of explosion.
The use of the conductivity probe is forbidden in frameproof electric pumps which are used in areas where the use of
pumps of the non-flameproof construction is forbidden. The probe is installed inside the motor casing in oil.
