Fault
The nebulisation period has become
noticeably longer.
Aerosol continuously escapes in large
volumes from the opening slots in the
medication reservoir.
46
Possible cause/Remedy
If the nebuliser system is used regularly, the
nebulisation period will become longer. This
is not a malfunction. However, if you notice
that the nebulisation period has become con-
siderably longer, this may be due to one of
the following causes:
- You are inhaling a different medication.
- The fill volume has been increased.
- The medication reservoir cap was not
closed tightly.
- The aerosol head was not cleaned immedi-
ately after the last application, or it is visibly
damaged.
- You are using the aerosol head for longer
or more often than is described in section
Life cycle.
If none of the points listed above apply, carry
out the following function test for the aerosol
head:
• Pour 2.5 ml isotonic sodium chloride solu-
tion (0.9%) into the medication reservoir.
• Switch the controller on and note how long
nebulisation takes without inhaling.
If the nebulisation period is longer than
4 minutes, use the easycare cleaning aid.
Take note of the information regarding fre-
quency of use of the easycare cleaning aid
in the accompanying instructions for use.
• If the nebulisation period is still longer than
5 minutes after cleaning with the easycare
cleaning aid, you must replace the aerosol
head.
Info:
The time specified above only applies
for 2.5 ml isotonic sodium chloride
solution (0.9%).
• Check whether the nebuliser handset has
been assembled correctly.
When doing so, check that the two valve
flaps of the inspiratory valve are seated
correctly. They must lie perfectly flush.
