STARTING A COLD ENGINE (OR A HOT ENGINE AFTER
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL)
Move the choke lever to the full choke
(bottom) position.
Squeeze the throttle trigger while pulling the
starter rope handle 4 times rapidly.
Move the choke lever to the half choke
(middle) position.
Squeeze the throttle trigger while pulling
starter rope rapidly until the engine starts,
but no more than 6 pulls.

If the engine does not start on the second
attempt, refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING
table or call customer support.
Squeeze the throttle trigger and let the
machine run for 15 seconds.
Move the choke lever to the run (top)
position.
Allow the engine to warm up for one minute.
STARTING A HOT ENGINE
If the engine does not start, proceed to STARTING A
FLOODED ENGINE.
NOTE: Normally, the hot starting procedure can be used
within 15 minutes after the unit is turned off. If the unit sits
for more than 15 minutes without being used, it will be
necessary to start the unit by following the steps under
STARTING A COLD ENGINE.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
1. Move the choke lever to the run (top) position.
2. Fully squeeze throttle trigger.
3. Pull the starter rope handle repeatedly while squeezing
throttle trigger until engine starts and runs. This
could require pulling the starter handle many times

TABLE or call customer support.

TRIMMER LINE ADVANCE
The trimmer line will advance approximately 2 inches (5
cm) each time the bottom of the trimmer head is tapped on
the ground with the engine running at full throttle.

To advance line:
1. Operate the engine at full throttle.
2. Hold the trimmer head parallel to and above the grassy
area.
3. Tap the bottom of the trimmer head lightly on the
ground one time.
Approximately 2 inches (5 cm) of line will be advanced
with each tap.
Always tap the trimmer head on a grassy area. Tapping on
surfaces such as concrete or asphalt can cause excessive
wear to the trimmer head.
If the line is worn down to 2 inches (5 cm) or less, more
line length.
