Connect the new instrument required for the surgical procedure and all other
connections. Close the outflow valve (drain valve).
Open the supply valve completely.
Fill the tube and the instrument completely with fluid.
Hold the connected instrument for the duration of the instrument detection
(approx. 12 seconds) at the working height above the apron.
Press the Start/Stop key for approx. 2 seconds.
The instrument detection (ID) cycles 4 rpm levels of the pump for the duration of
approx. 12 sec. Start of the ID is indicated with a long acoustic signal. The
irrigation pressure is displayed in the pressure display during the instrument
detection.
• Another long signal is heard and the irrigation fluid flows steadily after a
successful completion of the instrument detection process. The fluid supply is
interruptible only by closing the supply valve or the instrument detection is
lost.
• In case of error or malfunction the actual display depicts ID. The unit emits 5
short beeps. The device switches to the Stop mode. The actual
pressure/nominal pressure display shows the irrigation pressure (see chapter
13 Error and Warning Messages, page 44).

The Deficit display (16) shows the volume that is missing from the system (scale
/pump). Negative values mean a mass increase (for example through
uncontrolled secretion seepage). The alarm threshold for the deficit value can be
