Four-Step
Buttonholing
The feur dial settings for buttonholing are
located on the stitch length seleetor. As Vou
turn the dial for eech step, vour machine is
automaticallv
set
for
the
oorrect
needle
position, stitch width, and stitch length, as well
as for stitching direetion for that step. Vou
need not turn the fabric during buttonholing.

Position work under needle, aligning ce'ltre
marking of buttonhole with centre line on
the foot. Align end marking of buttonhole
with the horizontallines on the foot.

buttonhole balance knobK in neutral
position,
as
i1ustrated.
The
buttonhole
balance Knob, when turned slightlV to the
right or
18ft,
enables vour to balance the
stitch
densitv
of
both
sides
of
the
buttonhole

81ep 1 :Side 81itching
Raise needle above the fabric and turn the
buttonhole dial to step1. Position needle in
fabric at pointA. Lower the foot and stitch to
end of buttonhole (point B), The end marking
shoud be aligned with the horizontal lines on
the foot.
81ep 2:8IIr Tack
Raise the needle out of the fabrico Turn
buttonhole dial to step 2 and take at least feur
stitches. Stop at point C.
81ep 3:Side 81itching
Raise the needle out of the fabrico Turn
buttonhole dial to step 3. Complete work to
pointD. Raise needle.
Step 4:8IIr Tack
Raise the needle out of the fabric and turn
buttonhole dial to step 4. Take at least four
stitches ending at point E. For a smooth, SBtin
appearance and greeter durabilitv, stitch around
the buttonhole a seoond time bV rebeeting the
four-step sequence.
