H Transportation and commissioning
1
Securing the vehicle during transportation
IMPORTANT Loading must be undertaken by specially trained specialist personnel. The
specialist personnel must be trained in securing loads on road vehicles and
in working with load-securing aids. The correct sizing and conversion of load-
securing arrangements must be determined in every case.
2
Handling by crane
IMPORTANT Use only lifting gear with an
adequate load capacity (for
vehicle weight see vehicle
nameplate (see Chapter D)).
NOTICE
Attachment
provided on the frame and fork
for loading the vehicle with a
crane harness.
– Switch off and secure the vehicle
(see Chapter E).
– Attach the crane harness to the
attachment points (1).
IMPORTANT Attach the crane harness to the
attachment points in such a
way that it cannot slip and
cannot touch any attachments during the lifting operation.
3
Commissioning
IMPORTANT Operate the vehicle under battery power only. Rectified alternating current
will damage the electronic components. Cable connections to the battery
(trailing cables) must not exceed 6 m (19.7 ft) in length.
Qw W
If there is no battery in the vehicle, the plug brake and service brake are not
available.
The following procedures must be carried out to prepare the vehicle for use after
delivery or transportation:
– Check the equipment for completeness and condition.
– Install the battery if applicable, taking care not to damage the battery cable.
– Charge the battery (see Chapter F).
– If applicable, check the setting on the combi-instrument to make sure it matches the
battery type (see Chapter F).
– Start up the vehicle as described (see Chapter E).
NOTICE
If the vehicle has been parked, the wheel treads may be flattened. This
flattening will disappear once the truck has been driven for a short distance.
