12.4. Spark plug maintenance
Recommended spark plug:
WJR4025: CMR5H (NGK)
CAUTION!
Never use the spark plug out of the correct heat range.
To ensure the engine operates properly, the spark plug must have an appropriate gap (0.6 mm - 0.7 mm) be free of dirt and foreign
material.
a. Loosen the 4-mm hex bolt and remove the engine upper cover.
Do not pull the starter grip nor start the engine without the upper cover installed.
CAUTION!
There are hot rotating parts under the cover.
b. Remove the spark plug cover. Clean any dirt or foreign material around the spark plug area.
c. Use a 16×17-mm spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
WARNING!
Only carry out maintenance when the engine is cold.
