1.4. Important safety precautions about handling agrochemicals
WARNING!
• Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling agrochemicals;
• Read closely the agrochemical labels. Always follow the recommendations of the manufacturer;
• Only apply the required amount of agrochemicals;
• Do not mix agrochemicals unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer. Intense chemical
reactions may occur;
• Keep agrochemicals out of the reach of children and animals. Store and lock agrochemicals to prevent
untrained people from handling them;
• Before starting the engine, make sure the sprayer hose is safely attached and that the shutoff valve is
turned to the position "CLOSED". Otherwise agrochemicals may spill over you during work;
• In case of intoxication, seek immediate medical help. Show the physician the agrochemical label.
• Wash your hand and parts of the body that came in contact with agrochemicals before and after
starting spraying.
• Dispose of agrochemical containers correctly. Follow the recommendations of the local regulatory agency
and the disposal instructions of the manufacturer.
• Do not pollute the environment.
1.5. Important safety precautions about the engine and fuel
Risk of fire and burns
DANGER!
• Gasoline is extremely flammable and gasoline vapor can explode. Be careful when handling gasoline.
Keep it out of the reach of children;
• Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this purpose;
• Only refuel the sprayer outdoors and do not smoke when refueling or handling fuel;
• Only fuel the sprayer before starting the engine. Never fuel it while the engine is running or when it is hot;
• If gasoline overflows or spills, do not start the engine. Take the sprayer away from the fueling location and
clean it thoroughly;
• Tighten securely the caps of all containers;
• Do not start the engine near fuel containers or fueling areas;
• Do not store the sprayer in closed areas with gasoline in the tank. Vapor may reach flames, sparks or
high-temperature sources;
• Wait for the engine to cool off before storing the sprayer;
• Only drain the fuel tank when it is cold in a well-ventilated area.
Risk of carbon monoxide poisoning
WARNING!
• Exhaust gases contain poisonous colorless and odorless carbon monoxide. Breathing exhaust fumes
(carbon monoxide) may result in loss of consciousness and lead to death. Always wear PPE;
• Do not operate the sprayer in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas as the air may contain a dangerous
amount of toxic exhaust fumes;
• Replace any defective muffler.
