Information for use
sera flore CO
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use.
The new sera flore CO
2
twin rotor supersede the generation of static CO
tors. The rotors, the upper one of which is designed as
a lamella rotor (6.3), ensure strong blending of CO
the aquarium water, allowing to dissolve several hun-
dred CO
bubbles per minute.
2
General notes
Dissolving CO
correctly and in sufficient amounts in
2
freshwater aquariums is the key to good and lasting
plant growth, especially in larger aquariums.
Added CO
that is only partially dissolved will escape via
2
the water surface in smallest bubbles and does not
reach the plants where it is actually required. The sera
active reactors are designed for optimized currents,
provide excellent performance capacity and can com-
pletely dissolve even large amounts of CO
tirely be disassembled, and are therefore easy to main-
tain and clean.
Safety advice for your fishkeeping
CO
lowers the pH value of the aquarium water.
2
Therefore be sure to monitor the pH value when using
the sera active reactors. We recommend the seramic
pH Controller to do so for professionals, or the sera CO
long-term indicator and the sera pH-Test kit for begin-
ners.
Application range
The sera flore CO
active reactor 500 is suitable for
2
freshwater aquariums between 250 l (66 US gal.) and 600 l
(159 US gal.). We recommend the sera flore CO
reactor 1000 for larger or densely planted aquariums.
Both reactors are identically constructed. Their only dif-
ference is the volume of the lower reactor part (6.6).
Usage and function
The sera flore CO
active reactors 500 and 1000 can be
2
integrated into an existing filter circuit outside the
aquarium (fig. 1). They can also be operated within (fig.
2) or outside (fig. 3) the aquarium with a feed pump, e.g.
sera P 700 for the sera flore CO
sera P 1200 for the sera flore CO
Recommended pump performance:
• for sera flore CO
active reactor 500
2
at least 500 l/h (132 US gal.)
• for sera flore CO
active reactor 1000
2
at least 700 l/h (185 US gal.)
The water current (4.1) of the pump drives the double
rotor (4.2) integrated in the reactor, which disperses CO
introduced from the pressure gas bottle (4.3) so finely
that it entirely dissolves in water. Even large amounts of
CO
can be dissolved entirely if required, allowing to
2
supply even large, densely planted aquariums with CO
economically.

2
We emphasize once again that CO
reac-
cause fish loss. The performance capacity of the reactor
2
is sufficient to create a pH value of 5.9 if the unit is op-
with
erated without limiting. The setting of the fine-adjust-
2
ment needle valve of a pressure reducer must not
change. Be sure to use a high quality fine-adjustment
needle valve in the pressure operating equipment as to
avoid too much CO

Assembly instruction and operation
Installation outside the aquarium into the circuit of an
external filter (fig. 1)
(e.g. sera fil bioactive 400 + UV external filter)
Switch off the present external filter for installing the
sera flore CO
hoses. Cut the hose that directs the water cleaned by
the filter back into the aquarium in a suitable position.
Hang up the sera flore CO
a position that allows to lay all hoses free from kinks and
without much tension. Install the holder of the sera ac-
tive reactor 500 or 1000 (5.2) vertically, allowing to hang
up the reactor vertically as well (1.1). You can attach the
holder plate with screws instead of the suction cups.
Connect the filter outlet hose piece to the intake of the
reactor (1.2), and the hose directing the water into the
aquarium to the water outlet of the reactor (1.3). Secure
2
the hoses to the water intake and outlet of the reactor
using the union nuts. Now push the CO

this purpose) onto the CO
