A GENERAL
Please read these instructions thoroughly
before using this product and follow all
the information contained within. Failure
to observe these instructions can lead to
a reduction in the protection this product
provides.
Please note: mountaineering and climb-
ing are dangerous sports which may lead
to unforeseable risks. You are personally
responsible for every action and decision
you take. You should acquaint yourself
with the related risks before undertaking
these activities. SALEWA recommends that
you seek proper training from profession-
als (such as mountain guides or climb-
ing schools) before any mountain-related
activity. It is important to become familiar
with rescue operations and how they are
carried out safely and correctly. The manu-
facturer declines any responsibility in case
of improper or wrong use. Make sure all the
components in your protection equipment
are certified.
B INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The correct use and possible misuses are
illustrated in IMAGE B.
B1) shows the different types of harness.
There are usually four types of harnesses
which have been conceived for diverse
uses. Choose the type which best suits your
practice: the full harness (Type A for adults
and B for children) ensures an upright posi-
tion and avoids any slipping out from the
harness. They are used for children or when
carrying a rucksack. A seat harness (type
C) allows optimal freedom of movement
and is used for all types of mountaineer-
ing. A chest harness (Type D) can only be
used together with a seat harness (Type C).
Failure to do so may lead to bad injuries,
since a chest harness in itself does not grant
any protection from falls.
B2) shows how to use the buckles on the
harness.
B3) shows how to fasten and adjust the har-
ness. To guarantee comfort and safety, it is
imperative that you choose a harness in the
correct size. The size chart will guide your
choice, although you should try the harness
on and adjust it according to your size. You
should be able to pass your hand held flat
between your thigh and the leg loop. Type
B harnesses should only be used by people
weighing 40 kg or less and whose height is
1,30 mt maximum. Before using your har-
ness, hang in it from a safe place and make
sure it sits well and is comfortable.
B4) shows how to tie in the safety rope to
the harness.
B5) shows how to use additional parts with
your harness.

more difficulty.

D LIFESPAN
The lifespan of the product is dependent on
a number of factors, such as the manner and
frequency of use, UV exposure, moisture,
ice, affects of weather, storage conditions,
and dirt (sand, salt, etc.). Under extreme
conditions the lifespan can be reduced to
a single usage or even less, if the equip-
ment has suffered damage (for example
during transport) before ever being used.
Please note: Products manufactured from
synthetic fibres are subject to ageing even
when not used. This ageing depends mainly
on environmental conditions as well as the
impact of UV light.
Indications of maximum lifespan:
Never: Correct storage: up to 10 years since
production
Once or twice a year: up to 7 years
Once a month: up to 5 years
More times a month: up to 3 years
