Check that the chain will run in the right
direction.
Fit the guard and blade by screwing the lock
nut tight by hand while lifting the end of the
blade upwards.
Turn the chain tensioner screw until the
chain's drive link touches the underside of
the blade.
Tighten the lock nut securely and tension the
chain fully while holding the end of the blade
upwards.
Tensioning the chain
Adjust the chain tension by turning the chain
tensioner screw using a screwdriver, e.g. the
screwdriver on the spark plug spanner (29).
Turn the screw clockwise to tighten the chain
and anticlockwise to slacken it. There should
be a few millimetres of play in the chain
when lifted from the centre of the blade. The
chain must not hang below the blade.
NB! A new chain expands initially. It is
therefore important that the chain tension is
checked often during the rst few hours of
operation.
Filling with chain oil
Unscrew the oil ller cap from the chain oil
tank (21) and re ll with clean, fresh high-
quality chain oil. Replace the cap and close
tightly.
Check that oil is discharged by the saw chain
once it is rotating. If necessary, place a piece
of paper on the ground so that it is easier to
see the oil splashes.
If insuffi cient oil is being delivered to the
chain, take off the bar and remove any dust
and sawdust from around the lubricating
nozzle by the gearwheel.
Lubricate the bar's front gearwheel by
placing a little chain oil in the lubricating
holes on the bar.
NB! A full chain oil tank is enough for
no more than 15 minutes of operation.
Therefore check the chain oil level before
that and re ll if necessary.
