cegard/Mini-MOD
3. Introduction
The cegard/Mini-MOD (for modernization) features the
proven and ultra-reliable cegard/Mini light curtain with
the Universal Power Supply (UPS). This package is ideal
for cost-efficient elevator modernization. Its operating
range and universal voltage of 20 ... 265 VAC or
20 ... 375 VDC, together with the potential-free relay
output, means it can be quickly and easily integrated
into existing facilities. Complete kits for modernization, a
vast range of accessories and special configurations are
available. The modernization kits are optimized to suit a
specific door drive or car type.

Backwards compatibility with
cegard/Max
• The UPS is fully backwards-compatible electrically
(same interface connector).
• The UPS and edges are fully backwards-compatible
mechanically. (There may be small differences in the
physical length of the edges)

Light curtain edges
The emitter and the receiver edges create a grid of infrared
beams, which safeguards the door entrance to a height of
1,800 mm (6 feet). The number of beams covering the
entrance area depends on the model in use. The number
after the product name cegard/Mini-MOD indicates the
length of the light curtain and the second number is the
amount of active opto-elements.
Due to the use of criss-cross beams, the number of
active beams used for the door protection is higher than
the number of elements. (e.g. 16 elements corresponds to
74 beams). Using this technique a much higher density of
the protection field can be achieved. The criss-cross beams
are kept up by the system as long as the geometrics of the
optics allows it.
