Safety instructions in accordance with Directive 94/9/CE - V series
7. EARTHING POINT
The figures on page 2 show the earthing points, respectively:
- Figure 1 for pumps with free shaft (on the part called the "arch support");
- Figure 2 for coupled pumps (on the part called the "base").
The user must appropriately connect the earth cable to these points. The cable must be
suitably sized. The connection point on the support or on the base must be scraped free of
paint or any impurities so as to reveal the white metal.
The pump must always be earthed independently from the motor or other items
connected to it. No earthing or incorrect earthing will invalidate compliance with the
requirements concerning safety and protection against the danger of explosion.
All the electrical connections, to the pump and the system, must be made in compliance
with the technical standards in force (for example, EN 60079-14). The electrical system
must be completed by qualified personnel in compliance with the relevant legislation
in force.
NOTE There must always be electrical continuity between the pump and the other elements
connected to the earth.
8. MECHANICAL SEAL
The seal may become damaged and the liquid contained in the pump may seep out; the user
must take this possibility into account and adopt all due precautions to ensure that the liquid
does not react with the environment.
Inspect the seal every time the pump is serviced and stop it immediately in the event of
leakage. If a seal leaks, it must be replaced following the instructions provided in the
pump use and maintenance manual. Varisco original spare parts must be used.
The mechanical seal must be lubricated using a liquid - compatible with the liquid being
pumped - that will be contained in the special tank supplied with the pump; where compatible,
use SAE 15W-40 engine oil. There is a branch between the liquid tank and the seal housing
for connecting a temperature sensor: the pump is supplied ready for measuring the tempera-
ture of the seal.
The user is responsible for:
- connecting the temperature sensor, where necessary, to a certified temperature measuring
device, in accordance with directive 94/9/EC (this device is not supplied by Varisco);
- periodically checking that the lubricating liquid tank is always full and, where necessary,
topping up the liquid. Figure 3 shows a diagram of the lubrication circuit and the application
of the temperature sensor.
