Placing the speakers and subwoofer

The best surround effect can be achieved by
placing each speaker at the same distance from
the listening position. We recommend that you
arrange the speakers as shown below. In
addition, the subwoofer (not shown) may be
positioned anywhere around the room, but
should be directed toward the listening position.
Since bass frequencies can be dependent on
room size and furnishings, you may want to
experiment with subwoofer placement and
orientation to achieve the best performance.

• If speakers cannot be placed at equal
distances, refer to "To adjust individual
speakers" on page 14.
• To avoid magnetic interference, do not position
the front speakers too close to your TV.
• Allow adequate ventilation around your home
theater system.

Connecting your DVD receiver to a TV

You should connect the DVD receiver to a TV,
both video and audio, in order to watch DVDs
and use your home theater system's surround
sound capabilities.
Notes
• There are various ways to connect the DVD
receiver a TV (as shown in the illustration). You
only need to make one of these connections.
• Always refer to the instruction manual of the
connected equipment to make an optical
connection.

Video connection
To connect to your TV with a video cable (1):
Connect the VIDEO OUT - VIDEO jack on
the DVD receiver to the VIDEO IN jack on the
TV using the video cable supplied.
Component video connection
To connect to your TV with a component
video cable (2):
Connect the VIDEO OUT COMPONENT
jacks on your DVD receiver to the
corresponding in jacks on the TV using an
optional Y Pb Pr cable.
S-Video connection
To connect to your TV with an S-Video
cable (3):
Connect the VIDEO OUT - S-VIDEO jack on
your DVD receiver to the S-VIDEO IN jack on
the TV using an optional S-Video cable.
Audio connection
To connect your TV's audio (not shown):
Connect the Left and Right AUDIO OUT
jacks on your TV to the Left and Right AUDIO
IN jacks on your DVD receiver using optional
audio cables.
