Circular saw
RS stock no. 182-613
You are now in possession of a quality precision tool. Please read
these Operating Instructions carefully before use.
Note: This saw should not be operated without the safety guard - see
fitting instructions.
This stationary circular saw has been designed for all kinds of work.
Two circular saw blades are included:
Cutting depths
1. 84 Teeth: Plastics (e.g. epoxy), fine wood and non-ferrous metals
up to 2mm. Blade diameter 60mm.
2. 50 Teeth: Coarse woods and other soft materials up to 5mm. Blade
diameter 60mm.
Before use:
1. Pay special attention to paragraphs on changing and assembling
saw blades and riving knife.
2. Before use, secure the circular saw table to a workbench or similar
surface (figure 3).
3. Use an RS variable speed transformer or another 12v source of
direct current.
4. Measure the workpiece and position the parallel guide accordingly.
When the guide is not in use, only small incisions should be made
because the workpiece may be swivelled. The motor could then
stall or become overloaded.
5. Safety glasses should be worn at all times.
6. Gently ease the workpiece towards the saw. The sawing speed can
be controlled through the transformer. Plastics should be cut at
medium speed.
7. Set the bevel guide to the desired angle. The tool is excellent for
sawing small strips and vertical sections at the exact angle
required.
8. The tool can now be switched on and is ready for use. After use,
the sawdust should be emptied out of the lower guard. To remove
guard, push upward, then pull forward.
To change the saw blade
Disconnect the tool from the power supply. Remove the lower guard
(see 8 above) and clean out. Hold the nut behind the saw blade tightly
in position with one spanner, while using the other spanner to loosen
the nut at the front of the blade. Remove the blade and replace the new
blade carefully onto the spindle. Ensure that the teeth of the newly
inserted blade are facing in the correct direction. Replace the washer
first and then replace the nut, tightening securely. Check that the blade
has been correctly positioned, remember teeth cut on the downward
stroke.
Assembling the riving knife & guard
1. Remove the lower guard.
2. Turn the saw table upside down and lay it face down on the
workbench.
3. On the underside of the saw table is a slotted fixture (see figure 9).
4. This side of the table should now face you.
5. The arched side of the riving knife should be placed into the slot
and pushed home.
6. Insert the screw (M4 x 16mm) with spring washer through right
hand hole.
7. The screw should be turned slightly into the corresponding thread
and tightened (see figure 10).
8. Turn the saw upright, fit the blade, adjust the parallel guide and you
are ready to saw.

General introduction
You are now in possession of a quality precision tool. Please read
these operating and safety instructions carefully before use. please
check you have the following items with your rs jigsaw: 1. Hexagonal
key 2. Jigsaw blades (1 x coarse and 1 x fine).
User instructions
1. The RS stock no. 182-635 jigsaw has been designed for various
cutting applications.
2. Having carefully unpacked your jigsaw make sure it is switched off.
3. Then, selecting the correct blade (n) for the task you have in hand,
attach it to the jigsaw (figure 12). Loosen both blade clamping
screws (h) on the blade clamp (g) with the hexagonal key (m).
Insert the selected blade into the blade clamp slot, teeth facing
forward and upward (figure 13).
tightening the two blade clamping screws (h) securely with the
hexagonal key (m) provided. Replace the hexagonal key (m) into
the key holder (p) so that it is always ready to use. For angled cuts,
the shoe (k) can be fixed into all positions from 45° to 90° by simply
slackening the shoe fixing screw (L) and then adjusting the shoe (k)
and securely retightening the screw (L). Accurate cutting should be
checked with a protractor and by cutting a suitable piece of waste
before the job is commenced.
Cutting with your RS jigsaw
Use only a RS variable speed transformer with your jigsaw to
ensure complete cutting versatility.
Always use genuine RS jigsaw blades. RS stock no. 182-641
coarse teeth blades for wood and plastics and RS stock no. 182-
657 fine teeth blades for metals.
Choose the correct blade for the task you have in hand.
Prior to cutting, it is advisable to lightly mark the intended cutting
line onto the work piece.
Location of the shoe into the 90° vertical position is achieved by
locating the grooves (j) in the shoe to projections on the housing.
When cutting, make sure the saw shoe (k) is always laid flush to the
surface.
Always make sure the workpiece is securely clamped to the
workbench (figure 14).
The jigsaw is fitted with an adjustable shoe (k) enabling you to cut
angles from 45° to 90° (figure 16). To ensure maximum accuracy,
it is recommended that a protractor is used (as previously
described).
