11 • SETTING UP THE PATIENT
Put the leg cradle in the most comfortable position for the patient.
-Put the patient in the leg cradle (D).
-Place the exerciser axis (12) at the level of the hip joint (13).
-Unscrew the knob (14)
-Slide the femoral adjustment device to the level of the patient knee joint and lock the knob (14).
-Unscrew the knob (15).
-Slide the sole up to touch the foot and lock the knob (15).
Keep the foot on the foot plate and attach the pads (16).
WARNING:
The sole should be in complete contact with the foot.
Note: For very thin legs it is preferable to block the movement of the leg support block at the help of the button (17).
12 • ADJUSTING THE LIMITS
The motor and its driving screw are located between the femoral and tibial support.
The threaded rod makes contact with the microswitches located inside the motor casing, reversing the movement of the unit.
The physician positions the cursors (M and M') on the threaded rod and locks them with the safety nuts (N and N').
The graduated scale on the driving-screw casing gives only an approximate measurement.
13 • ADJUSTMENT FOR FLEXION
The CPM unit can also be used for passive motion of the knee from 0° to 30°, 60°, 90° or 120°. It is also possible to block the
leg support in full extension.
In order to limit knee flexion it is enough to unscrew the screw (18) with the key (19) (provided with the CPM unit) and shift the
flexion limitation block by pulling it carefully, reposition it in its new position and tighten the screw (18).
14 • ADJUSTMENT FOR ABDUCTION
- Unscrew the crank (20).
- Set up the guide (21) in the direction of the abduction to the desired degree.
- Lock the crank (20).
This crank should be in the axis of the guide.
15 • MAINTENANCE
Direct a jet of compressed air into the protection screw casing.
Do not clean the screw with cotton. Move plug that holds up the nut, and grease the screw.
The motor does not need maintenance. However, compressed air can be used to remove carbon buildup. After 4,000 hours of operation, re-
turning the machine to Kinetec for maintenance is recommended.
16 • BREAKDOWN
If you need a spare parts catalog and/or service manual, please request it from your KINETEC distributor.
- After connecting the power cord on the KINETEC 9081 machine and switching ON the machine (10), if:
• The green light is off ,
- Try another electrical device to make sure that the power supply is uninterrupted.
- Check the fuse (22) by replacing it with a fuse of the same type and value.
- If the green light is still off, contact your KINETEC specialist.
• The KINETEC 9081 fails to operate but the green light remains on.
- Press the START/STOP switch two more times.
- Press the button (24) to reactivate the movement (Fig. 2).
- If your KINETEC 9081 still fails to operate, contact your KINETEC specialist.
• The red light (23) is on :
Verify that the hand control is firmly connected. If so, contact your KINETEC specialist.
17 • CLEANING
First, switch the CPM unit OFF and remove the power cord from the receptacle.
Spray a DISINFECTANT product (e.g., PROPANOL/ISOPROPANOL or ALDEHYDE solution) one used onto the SURFACES (plastic support,
plastic covers and metal parts).
The KINETEC HYGIENIC pads are machine-washable (30°C, 90°F) with chlorine bleach.
For optimal hygiene, a new set of pads should be used for each patient.
