• Do not try to stabilize the machine by putting your foot on the
ground.

into reverse and back down slowly.

GENERAL SERVICE

• Keep all nuts and bolts, especially blade attachment bolts,
tight to ensure the equipment is in safe working condition.
• Never tamper with safety devices. Never interfere with the
intended function of a safety device or reduce the protection
provided by a safety device. Check there proper operation
regularly. NEVER operate a machine with a safety device that
does not function properly.
• If you strike a foreign object, stop and inspect the machine.
Repair, if necessary, before restarting.
• Never make any adjustments or repairs with the engine
running.
• Mulching System components are subject to wear, damage,
and deterioration, which could expose moving parts or allow
objects to be thrown. Frequently check and replace with
manufacturer's recommended parts, when necessary.
• Mower blades are sharp. Wrap the blade or wear gloves, and
use extreme caution when servicing them.
• Check brake operation frequently. Adjust and service as
required.
• Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as necessary.
• Regular cleaning, washing, and lubricating will prolong the
service of the machine.
Follow the operation instructions in your mowers owner's manual.
Mulching Guidelines
To ensure acceptable mulching performance:
• Always mulch with your highest engine (blade) speed as this
will provide the best cutting performance.
• Ground speed should normally be reduced to allow clippings
to be fi nely mulched.
• The best time to mow your lawn is the early afternoon. At this
time the grass has dried, and the newly cut area will not be
exposed to the direct sun..
• Conditions must be dry. Wet grass does not mulch well and
grass accumulates under deck.
• The length of grass to be cut in one pass should not exceed
1/3 of the total grass height. Example: If grass height is 3",
the mower deck cutting height should be set at not less than
2".
• If grass is extremely tall, it should be mowed twice. The fi rst
time relatively high, the second time to desired height.
• The blades will recut the grass clippings many times and
reduce them in size so that as they fall onto the lawn they will
disperse into the grass and not be noticed.
• Ground speed should normally be reduced to allow clippings
to be fi nely mulched.
• Blades must be kept sharp.
• The underside of deck should be cleaned out often to prevent
grass accumulation.
• Certain types of grass and grass conditions may require
that an area be mulched a second time to completely hide
the clippings. When doing a second cut, mow across or
perpendicular to the fi rst cut path. The underside of deck
should be cleaned out often to prevent grass accumulation.
• For extremely heavy mulching, reduce your width of cut and
mow slowly.
• Change your cutting pattern from week to week. Mow north to
south one week then change to east to west the next week.
This will help prevent matting and graining of the lawn.
• Also, the mulched grass will biodegrade quickly to provide
nutrients for the lawn.
• NOTE: FOR BEST PERFORMANCE, KEEP MOWER
HOUSING FREE OF BUILT-UP GRASS AND TRASH. CLEAN
AFTER EACH USE

Blade Care

For best results mower blades must be kept sharp. Replace bent
or damaged blades.
• See the instructions in the mower Operator Manual
CAUTION! Use only a replacement blade approved
by the manufacturer of your mower. Using a blade not
approved by the manufacturer of your mower is hazardous,
could damage your mower and void your warranty.
