Notes on the vehicle
The BMW Protection Line is a four-door
enhanced-security saloon which
resembles the standard vehicle very
closely externally.
The protective measures which have
been taken are:
> Protective polycarbonate-coated
glass in all windows (to prevent the
vehicle's occupants from being
injured by slivers of glass)
> Special high-strength moulded
composite fibre elements and panels
at the sides and in the roof, roof
posts and door trims of the interior, in
the front footwells, at the rear and on
the luggage compartment bulkhead.
The use of protective glass raises the
vehicle's centre of gravity compared
with the series-production version.
Please take into account that the body
may therefore roll rather more when
cornering or when exposed to severe
lateral acceleration forces.
You can attend special driver
training courses run by BMW M
GmbH to familiarise yourself with the
vehicle's change in road behaviour and
practise the correct response if a
hazardous situation should arise. BMW
Service will gladly advise you on this
subject.<
Please have repairs to protective
equipment performed only by
BMW branches or dealers authorised to
deliver and service these cars, since
they are in possession of the necessary
specialised knowledge and special
tools.<
Protective glass
Shatterproof glass
The safety glass windows have a plastic
coating on the inside, to prevent slivers
of glass from becoming loose and
entering the vehicle if a projectile
damages the glass from the outside.
In order to maintain the highest
possible optical quality and
protective properties of the safety glass
windows, park the vehicle out of direct
sunlight where
possible.<
When opening or closing the roller
blinds, try to avoid contact with
the glass, so that the plastic coating is
not scratched. Never attach adhesive
labels such as road tax certificates or
toll stickers etc. to the inside of the
window as they may cause the plastic
coating to crack and reduce its glass-
retaining
effect.<
