1. Important notes
(Only for use within the BMW dealer organisation)
Fitting time for manual sun blind approx. 1 hour.
Fitting time for electric sun blind approx. 1.75 hours.
The fitting time may vary, depending on the condition of and equipment in the car.
All the work is shown in these instructions for the LHD model.
For RHD models, some of the work must be carried out on the other side.
Target group
The target group for these fitting instructions is staff who have been trained on BMW cars.
Work
All servicing, repair, fitting and adjustment work on cars is completed at your own risk.
All work is to be completed using the latest BMW
-Repair instructions, Circuit diagrams,
-Service manuals, Work instructions,
-Diagnostics manuals
in a rational sequence using the prescribed tools (special tools) and pursuant to the relevant
health and safety regulations.
Fitting instructions
If the specified PIN slots are already in use, bridges, double crimps or parallel end stops are to be used.
To prevent faults, make sure that you use the exact installation routes in the car.
Under no circumstances should you use so-called "Scotchlock connectors" since they may cause faults
in the vehicle's electrical system.
Ensure that the cables are not kinked or damaged when they are installed in the car since otherwise,
this too may cause faults which then require a great deal of work for their localisation.The costs incurred
as a result of this will not be reimbursed by BMW.
On left-hand drive cars, the wiring harness is to be installed along the right-hand side of the car and
the earth joint connector on the right-hand side of the car is to be used.
On right-hand drive cars, the wiring harness is to be installed along the left-hand side of the car and
the earth joint connector on the left-hand side of the car is to be used.
The bolts for securing the seat belts are to be tightened with the prescribed torque after fitting
the rear blind.
Tools and equipment required
- Screwdriver
- Open-ended spanner, 7 mm
- 1/2" ratchet with 10 mm socket
- T45 Torx wrench
- Drill and 4.5 mm twist drill bit
- Crimping pliers
- Angle cutter
- Hammer
