CAUTION
A loose protection cap presents a hazard and can lead to increased wear in
the insulator, electrode and swirl ring or even to destruction of the torch
body.
A soiled protection cap in the area of the interior air guide, and soiled swirl
ring holes reduce the air throughput and the cooling. This increases the wear
to the insulator, electrode, and swirl ring and can destroy the torch body.
A worn-out spatter protector must be replaced if required.
NOTE
• Always ensure that the protection cap and all wear parts are clean and
tightened properly.
• The wear parts of the manual cutting torch are identical to those of the
machine cutting torch.
• The plasma-cutting torches are equipped with a safety switch-off for
protection of the operator. This automatically interrupts the switch-on
circuit when the protection cap is removed. Two spring-mounted contacts
are actuated when the protection cap is screwed on. If the spring action
of the contact pins is obstructed, the existing safety switch-off can
become ineffective. Ensure that all contact surfaces are kept clean
between the spring mounted contact pins and the contact ring on the
protection cap.
WARNING
In the case of a split protection cap, the cap body and spatter protector
make up one functional unit. For safety reasons, the plasma-cutting torch
equipped with the cap body must not be used without spatter protector.
Non-observance can result in injuries and machine damage.
When replacing wear parts, always switch off the plasma power source.
1 Screw in insulator and tighten (hand-tight only).
CAUTION
Overtightening can damage the threads on the insulator.
