Warning: The adequacy of any sterilization procedure
must be tested. It is critical that appropriate process
parameters be validated for each facility's sterilization
equipment and product/load configuration by persons who
have training and expertise in sterilization processes to
substantiate the process and its reliability and reproducibility.
USe oF the aRthRotUNNeleR™ Set
1. Load a free strand of suture on the forked distal end of
the AT Suture Inserter and secure the suture tails on the
proximal end of the AT Suture Inserter handle.
2. Use the AT Drill Guide either through a standard
anterior portal (with the arm in adduction and internal
rotation to provide perpendicular access), or from
an accessory portal or stab incision adjacent to the
acromion. Create medial tunnel, using either the AT
2.9 Drill – M, or the AT 2.9 Punch – M to the depth
indicated by the positive stop.
3. Mark the location of the medial hole for identification.
4. From the lateral portal, gently introduce the
ArthroTunneler™ device to the superior aspect of the
greater tuberosity. During insertion, keep the Anvil
Actuator in the extended (normal) position.
5. Withdraw the Anvil by moving the Anvil Actuator to
the proximal position and fully introduce the Hook into
the medial tunnel.
•
During this step, position the Anvil on the lateral
portion of the greater tuberosity.
•
Check for free movement of the Loop by sliding
the Loop Actuator between the Deploy and Retrieve
positions.
•
The superior beam of the Hook should be
approximately parallel to the plateau of the tuberosity.
6. Deploy the Loop of the ArthroTunneler™ device by
sliding the Loop Actuator to the Deploy position.
7. Drill the lateral tunnel through the Loop deployed in
the medial tunnel using the AT 2.5 Drill – L:
− Introduce the drill through the hole at the proximal
end of the ArthroTunneler™ device.
− Drill to the full depth of the drill as indicated by the
positive stop.
8. Remove the AT 2.5 Drill – L, while maintaining the
position of the ArthroTunneler™ device.
caution: Changing the position of the ArthroTunneler™
device at this stage may result in loosing the entry point
into the lateral hole.
9. Insert the loaded Suture Inserter through the hole at
the proximal end of the ArthroTunneler™ device into
the lateral bone tunnel until the handle of the Suture
Inserter is flush with the device.
10. Move the Loop Actuator toward the Retrieve position.
The Actuator should move only partially, indicating
that the Suture Inserter is captured within the Loop.
