Important safety notes
G
WARNING
Always observe the maximum permissible load of the rear-mounted
bicycle rack. The rear-mounted bicycle rack and/or the bicycles
mounted to it may otherwise come loose from your vehicle, thereby
injuring you and other persons and/or causing damage to property,
including damage to your vehicle. There is a risk of an accident.
G
WARNING
Always observe the permissible gross vehicle weight and the
permissible noseweight; see the vehicle Owner's Manual. The
additional weight on the tailgate of the vehicle impairs braking
performance, cornering ability and the acceleration characteristics of
the vehicle. Always adapt your driving style to the current road, traffic
and weather conditions, and drive particularly carefully when
travelling with a load on the rear-mounted bicycle rack. There is a risk
of an accident.
Rear loading presents a larger surface area exposed to the wind and also
raises the vehicle's centre of gravity, thus leading to a change in driving
characteristics. Therefore, when the rear-mounted bicycle rack is
mounted, do not exceed a maximum speed of 81 mph (130 km/h).
Always drive with extra care with the rear-mounted bicycle rack
mounted, even if it is unladen.
G
WARNING
Do not cover the bicycles with a tarpaulin, protective cover or other
similar items as this will increase the surface area exposed to the
wind. This will have an influence on the driving characteristics. The
braking performance, cornering ability and the acceleration
characteristics of the vehicle may be impaired. There is a risk of an
accident.
G
WARNING
Unload the bicycles and secure the folding support to the folding back
before you open the tailgate. The mechanism for holding the tailgate
open is not designed for the additional load of a laden rear-mounted
bicycle rack.
The tailgate may close by itself, thereby injuring you and other
persons. In addition, mounted bicycles may damage the roof
attachments when the tailgate is open.
