Peroneal orthosis
Purpose
Pero-med is a peroneal orthosis for lifting and supporting the foot. The orthosis may
only be used for foot treatment.
Properties
• Short design that extends above the ankle
• Ready to wear, with adjustable rip tape above the ankle
• Thermoplastic ductility, can be sanded
Indications
• Mild weakness in foot dorsiflexion
• Mild peroneal paralysis without spasms (III and IV degree paresis)
Contraindications
• Do not apply the product near open wounds.
• Sensory or circulation problems in the feet
• Ulcers on the top or underside of the foot
Side effects
No side effects are as yet known for correct use.
Directions for putting on the orthosis
Before you put it on: Please first open the rip tape strap.
Putting on the orthosis:
• Position the orthosis underneath the heel so that both stabilisers on the inside
and outside are covering the ankle.
• Close the strap. To avoid constriction, make sure the strap is not pulled too tightly.
• If necessary, the sole can be thermoplastically moulded to fit, and the insides of
the stabilisers sanded to adjust them.
Before you take it off: Please first open the rip tape strap.
Precautions
Follow the advice of the professional who prescribed or supplied the product. Con-
sult your professional if discomfort occurs. Store at room temperature, preferably
in its original packaging. For hygiene and performance reasons, do not re-use the
product for another patient. Any serious incident that occurs in connection with the
product must be reported to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the
Member State in which the user and/or patient are/is domiciled.
Care
• Wipe the orthosis with a moist cloth
• Do not use any cleaning agents, conditioners or aggressive products (containing
chlorine)
• Dry away from any heat sources
