2.1.2 Combined torches must only be used for the procedure for which the corresponding torch insert
is provided for.
2.2 Usage not according to the intended purpose ' It is not allowed e.g. to weld with cutting torch inserts or
to cut with welding torch inserts (risk of re-ignition). Only use handle pieces and inserts of the same make and
of the same type. It is only allowed to treat non-metallic materials with heating torches. In case of doubt
consult the manufacturer. Do not use the torches to refill gases or for blow off works. The torches are not
suited to be used for gases in the liquid phase.
3. Basic safety instructions
3.1 All instructions marked with
3.2 These devices (welding and cutting torch) are state-of-the-art and comply with the recognized rules
of technique as well as with the requirements of the existing standard (DIN ISO 5172).
3.3 It is forbidden to make conversions or modifications on the devices without approval of the
manufacturer.
3.4 In case of improper treatment and usage not according to the intended purpose there may be risks
for the user and other persons as well as damages on the device.
3.5 The handling of oxy-fuel torches and oxy-fuel gases and oxygen require expert knowledge and
these operating instructions must be observed. It is necessary to train and instruct the operators (refer
to chapter 0.1)
3.6 Make sure to avoid any possible dangers at the working place before commissioning.
e.g. risk of fire due to highly flammable substances, gases or liquids. When heating up the device it is
necessary to consider that the developing heat propagates itself resp. rises.
If applicable it is necessary to cool down heat-conducting material. Make sure to ignite the oxy-fuel gas
or oxygen mixtures when they flow out of the torch.
3.7 Regulations and standards to be followed
DIN ISO 5172
DIN EN 559
DIN EN 560
DIN EN 561
DIN EN 730
DIN EN 731
DIN EN 8541
Rules for prevention of accidents when working with oxygen
Please observe the requirements to implement the PED (RL97/23/EC) and the ATEX (RL94/9/EC and
RL99/92/EC). Also follow the gas-specific stipulations of the corresponding county of use.
Please observe the state specific sets of rules (e.g. BSV, regulations for the prevention of accidents, rules of
the association).
