5 Commissioning
5.1 Before starting work, the indications in these operating instructions must be read and observed
when working on the appliance
5.2 Preparation
Keep all parts oil- and grease-free which get into contact with oxygen – risk of burn-out. Please check if all
threaded connections and sealing surfaces (e.g. cones and balls) are clean and undamaged. Do not connect
the torch if the threaded connections are damaged.
5.2.1 Connect hoses according to DIN EN 559
Only use hose nozzles and spigot nuts according to DIN EN 560.
Secure hoses on the hose clips using appropriate hose clamps.
When using hose couplings, they need to comply with DIN EN 561.
5.2.2 Oxy-fuel gas withdrawal
When withdrawing oxy-fuel from a distribution line it is necessary to use safety equipment according to DIN
EN 730. When withdrawing from individual bottles it might be necessary to use safety equipment.
5.2.3 Selecting the insert to be mounted into the handle piece. The work to be performed such as welding,
soldering, heating flame-blasting or flame cutting as well as the material thickness respectively the size of the
workpiece is decisive for the choice. Make sure that the parts and sealing are clean and undamaged when
mounting the insert into the handle piece.
Tighten the connecting nut by hand using an installation wrench.
5.3 Welding, heating, soldering, flame blasting
5.3.1 Setting the operating pressures
Initially keep the oxygen and oxy-fuel gas valve closed on the handle piece.
Slowly open bottle valves respectively extraction valves (distribution line), Reduce operating pressures on both
pressure regulators and set them according to the indications on the inserts and according to the table.
5.3.2 Igniting and adjusting the flame
Fully open the oxygen adjusting valve at the handle piece. Open the oxy-fuel gas valve a little at the handle
piece.Ignite the escaping gas mixture. Then, if required readjust the operating pressures at the pressure
regulator.
Flame patterns (top-down):
-neutral flame
-Flame with excess oxygen
-Flame with excess acetylene
5.3.3 Decommissioning
Proceed in the opposite way to that described for igniting
when switching off the torch. First close the
oxy-fuel gas adjusting valve at the handle piece.
