For advanced training, the simulator provides an opportunity for practicing phlebologists and vascular sur-
geons to hone their techniques, and to gain confidence, through professional development, in carrying out
ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, in order to minimize the risk of intra-arterial or extra-arterial injection on
a real patient.

4 Cleaning, taking care of and storing the simulator
After use, the tubes, the thigh and the receptacle are to be cleaned.
They are to be cleaned first of all under running water:
• The plastic bottle
• The thigh
• The receptacle
To clean, at most use a little washing up liquid instead of just pure water.
Then fill the bottle once more with water, and add a drop of washing up liquid. Assemble the infusion set,
simulator and receptacle, and let the liquid flow through the entire system once.
Then put the parts in a well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight, for them to dry. Dry the outside of
the thigh, rub in talcum powder (shaking off any excess), and place on the white tray (so that no pressure
marks form). Protect the thigh with the cover supplied for storage.
