Repairs should only be carried out by qualified
persons using original spare parts. Failure to do
so may result in considerable danger to the
user.
PROTECT FURNISHINGS
If using the power tool inside your house pro-
tect furnishings and floors with a suitable dust
sheet.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS
When using certain power tools inside your
house or workshop general fire precautions
should be observed. As a precaution it is recom-
mended that an expert is consulted on obtain-
ing and using a suitable fire extinguisher.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING!
TWO HANDED OPERATION REQUIRED
This machine requires the use of two hands to
ensure safe operation and should not be used
when working from ladders and step ladders.
If this machine is to be used when working at
height a suitable, stable platform or scaffold
tower with hand rails and kick boards should
be used.
EXTREME CAUTION REQUIRED
Be aware that the paint on old wood could
contain high levels of lead. Extreme care should
be taken when sanding painted surfaces. The
dust may contain LEAD which if touched,
ingested or breathed will cause poisoning and
can be fatal.
Any pre 1960 building may have had paint con-
taining lead on wood or metal surfaces.
STOP!
If you suspect paint in your house contains lead
seek professional help.
WARNING!
Some wood and wood type products especially
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) can produce
dust that can be hazardous to your health. We
recommend the use of an approved face mask
with replaceable filters in addition to using the
dust extraction facility.
Ensure that power tools are disconnected from
the mains supply when not in use, before serv-
icing, lubricating, making adjustments and
when changing accessories.
Ensure that the holes in the sanding disc align
with the holes in the machine sanding pad
Do Not attempt to use for wet sanding opera-
tions a fatal electric shock could occur. This
machine is to be used for dry sanding only
Ensure that the sanding disc is centred on the
sanding pad.
Do Not start the machine whilst it is in contact
with the work piece.
Check the work piece for any protruding nails,
screw heads or anything that could tear or
damage the sanding disc.
Hold the machine correctly using two hands
and adopt a stable stance. Make sure that the
mains cable is prevented from coming into con-
tact with the machine or getting caught up on
other objects preventing completion of the
sanding pass.
Replace the sanding disc as soon as it becomes
worn. If the sanding discs is damaged it could
cause deep scratches which are difficult to
remove.
Always start sanding with coarse grade of sand-
ing disc working through the grades to the
finest grade.
Wherever possible always sand in the direction
of the grain. Remove the accumulated dust
from the wood between each grade of sanding
disc.
TIP
An acceptable filler which could be a good
colour match can be made by mixing the sand-
ing dust with PVA glue.
NOTE
The Rotary Sander is not to be used for sanding
Gypsum.
