E. FREE WHEEL – NEUTRAL
The electromechanical brakes are activated when the wheelchair is not in use or is switched
off. The wheelchair has a "free wheel" (neutral) function that is activated by turning the lever
from the wheel in drive position to the free wheel position. (fig.22)

WARNING!
•
Never use the free wheel position on a slope.
•
Never use the free wheel position when driving the wheelchair.
•
Always remember to place the lever in "wheel in drive" position before switching
on the wheelchair
F. ELECTROMECHANICAL BRAKES
The electric wheelchair has electromechanical brakes. This is an automatic magnetic disc,
also known as a safety brake. The electromechanical brakes are automatic and are engaged
when the electric wheelchair is switched on but stationary, even when the wheelchair
is on a slope. The electromechanical brakes are also engaged when the electric wheelchair
is switched off, but the motor levers are in the drive position (vertical).
Note:
Please consult the section on maintenance and repair to ensure that the brakes are
in good condition.
G. THERMAL PROTECTION
The controller on your electric wheelchair has a thermal safety system. An incorporated
circuit controls the temperature of the controller and the motors and the controller reduces
the voltage of the motor and the speed of the wheelchair to allow the electrical components
to cool down. Although your wheelchair will return to its normal speed when the temperature
returns to safe levels, it is recommended to cut off the power supply and wait five minutes
before restarting it, to allow the components to cool down if the speed has dropped suddenly.
