this firmly into the connector on the elbow
joint and tighten the locking ring. A diagram
showing typical configurations for the pipe
work is shown on page 1.
Select the mains lead that corresponds to the
electrical outlet used in your country and push
the IEC connector in to the inlet on the chiller.
Connect the plug to a free electrical outlet rated
at a minimum of 3A at 230/240V.
Checks prior to operating the chiller
1. Open any check valves in the water circuit.
2. Start the aquarium pump to allow water to
flow through the chiller.
3. Ensure that there are no leaks in the circuit
and that the water flows freely (the
suggested flow rate is 500 l/h) – if any leaks
are detected or the water flow is obstructed,
check all connections and ensure there are
no kinks in the hoses.
Note: Once the chiller is installed in its final
position and the above checks have been
completed it should be left standing for ten
minutes prior to operation.
Operating Instructions
Once the chiller is connected to the electrical
supply, with the wall socket switch in the on
position, put the power switch of the chiller
(located by the IEC socket) to position I (on).
After about 5 seconds the chiller will start to
function and the numerical display will show the
water temperature in degrees Celsius (°C).
Setting the temperature
1. Press the set button.
2. Use the up/down arrows to select the desired
water temperature.
3. After 5 seconds the value will be
automatically stored.

cooling system, once the aquarium water

system will switch to stand-by and the greed
LED will switch off. When the temperature in
the aquarium starts to increase the cooling
circuit will activate again.
To switch the chiller off press the power switch
to the 0 (off) position.
Regular Maintenance
The air filter should be cleaned AT LEAST ONCE
A MONTH and potentially more depending on
the level of dust in the environment.
To clean the filter:
1. Put the chiller power switch in to the 0 (off)
position – the display panel should now be
blank.
2. Remove the air filter by gently pulling the
filter handle upwards – the filter should slide
vertically out of the top of the chiller.
3. Use a vacuum cleaner to gently remove the
dust trapped in the filter media.
4. Once clean, replace the filter and put the
chiller power switch back to the I (on)
position.
If the filter or filter media are damaged they
should be replaced – replacement filter units are
available from the Arcadia website
(www.arcadia-uk.com) in the spare parts store.
Recalibrating the temperature display
If the temperature displayed on the chiller
control panel varies significantly from the water
temperature of the aquarium, it can be
recalibrated as follows:
1. Press and hold the set button for 10 seconds.
2. The display will show the system hysteresis
value – DO NOT CHANGE THIS VALUE.
3. Press set again.
4. The display will flash and show the water
temperature.
