Electrical safety guidelines:
1. Please disconnect the mains plug when not using the device for a prolonged period of time!
2. In the event of damage to the mains cord, mains plug or the device itself, please cease
operating the device (risk of injury)!
3. Please never attempt to repair the device yourself.
4. Please do not overload the recommended capacity of the socket!
5. The mains connection of the device must be freely accessible!
6. Do not modify the mains cord in any way as it complies with the prescribed grid voltage!
Setting up the document shredder:
1. Securely mount the document shredder on the waste basket included. In the process,
ensure that you do not catch your fingers between the top edge of the waste basket
and the shredder. The top part is quite heavy.
Note: Thanks to the removable arm, you may also mount the document shredder on
other round and rectangular waste baskets. The arm is located on the left side of the
document shredder and is suitable for waste baskets with a width of 270mm to
390 mm.
2. Set the document shredder on the basket, which is situated on a secure and even
surface so that the device is not able to tip over.
3. Connect the mains plug to a standard 220-240 volt AC socket.
Starting up the document shredder:
The Main Switch is located on the top of the shredder. The Main Switch has three (3) settings
1. When ON/AUTO is selected, the shredding process is started automatically by inserting the
paper into the feed opening. The shredder will stop automatically when the paper has
completed its travel through the feed opening. This position is also recommended when
emptying the wastebasket or when the shredder is not in use for a prolonged period of time
2. REV (REVerse direction):is used to assist in the removal of a paper jam, reverses the
shredding process prior to a completed cycle ,thus clearing the cutters .
3. FWD (Forward direction): to bring the paper leftover forward into the paper bin. Locate the
switch to "FWD" position to run the shredding operation in forward direction, then the paper
will fall into the basket. Also by switching to REV position and then FWD can also help the
jammed paper to be clear from the machine.
Important note:
This device is designed solely for private use in enclosed quarters and for brief operation not
exceeding 2 minutes. Do not use the document shredder for commercial applications or
outdoors.
Capacity of the document shredder:
The GENIE 500 SB shreds up to 5 sheets of paper (DIN A4, 70g) in approx. 7 mm wide strips.
For thicker types of paper (e.g. 80g), the number of sheets to be inserted is reduced
accordingly. The paper width may comprise up to 21,8 cm (DIN A4). When shredding small
