1. Description of the kayak
You have purchased a TRIBORD kayak. This manual will help you to use it and paddle with total freedom. Happy
sailing!
This kayak is designed for two adults and one child for short outings (<4h) at sea (fig 1a), on a lake (fig 1b) or on
a calm river (fig 1c).
2. Directions for use
- Always wear a buoyancy vest compatible with current standards and in a good state of repair, whatever the
weather (fig 2).
- Check weather conditions before setting off: they are a determining factor in sailing. Also get information from
coast monitoring agencies and local tourism services about the advantages and possible dangers of sites (fig 3).
- Learn elementary safety manoeuvres:
Your kayak is unsinkable: it floats even if it capsizes.
Never abandon your kayak: it will help to keep you afloat and to be located more easily.
How do you turn your kayak over? How do you get back into your kayak? (fig 4)
- Prepare your equipment carefully (fig 5).
Suitable clothing (helmet, shoes, sun/heat protection, etc.) / Water and provisions/paddle leash, spare paddle and
tow rope. If possible, carry a mobile telephone in a waterproof cover.
For outings lasting several days, carry a personal location device: flash lamp, distress flares, personal signal flare.
- Do not overestimate your level of expertise: prepare a route map which corresponds to your abilities. Remember
this basic principle: "DIFFICULT DEPARTURE, EASY RETURN". Try to sail in groups and/or tell people about your
itinerary. (fig.6)
- Respect the environment and the peace and quiet of sites. (fig.7)

3. Transport and storage/Maintenance – After Sales Service
3.1 Transport:
Your kayak has two carry handles.
Fasten it to your car's roof rack using Tribord foam blocks and broad straps, taking care to (fig 8):
- place your kayak upside down, limiting wind resistance
- balance out the weight
- carefully check that the kayak is tethered to the roof bars
- drive more slowly
- check the strap fastenings regularly during a long journey
3.2 Maintenance:
- Rinse the kayak in clean water before storing it for a long time (fig. 9).
- Once a year, carefully examine the hull and the deck (fig. 10); ensure that they have are not holed or damaged.
Carry out periodic checks of screwed parts.
- The following parts can be ordered from your DECATHLON store: Carry handles, Straps for bottle holder, D-rings
with screws, lifeline, plug.
3.3 Storage:
- Store your kayak in a cool place (fig. 11); it is best to store it upside down.
- The plug at the rear of the kayak must be carefully screwed in; it can be used to control air pressure in the event
of prolonged exposure to heat.
