Maintenance and care
1.
Check plug gap. Correct gap is 0.6 mm to 0.7 mm.
2.
Inspect electrode for wear.
3.
Inspect insulator for oil or other deposits.
4.
If the spark plug is dirty, clean it. Do not sandblast to clean.
Remaining sand will damage engine.
5.
If the electrodes or terminals are worn, or if there are cracks
in the ceramics, replace them with new parts. (see Specifi-
cationspage 25)
6.
Tighten to 15 N·m - 17 N·m (150kgf·cm to 170 kgf·cm).
The spark test (for checking whether the spark plug is spark-
ing) must be carried out by your dealer.
YAMABIKO bar and chain can be replaced by Carlton equiv-
alent style, gauge and pitch.
1.
Remove two nuts (A) and gear case cover screw (B), and
turn saw chain tension adjustment screw (C) anticlockwise
to release tension.
2.
Remove gear case cover (D).
3.
Remove guide bar and saw chain from gear case and
sprocket.
4.
Remove saw chain from guide bar and check guide bar for
damage and excessive or uneven wear. Replace guide bar
if necessary.
5.
Install saw chain on guide bar with cutters on top of bar fac-
ing toward bar tip.
6.
Install guide bar and saw chain on gear case, engaging
chain with drive sprocket (E).
7.
Install gear case cover (D), and tighten nuts finger tight and
install gear case cover screw (B).
8.
Turn tension adjustment screw clockwise to take up slack in
saw chain.

Remove two nuts (A) and gear case cover screw (B).
2.
Remove gear case cover (D).
3.
Gently brush debris from inside gear case cover and from
around sprocket.
4.
Install guide bar cover, install and tighten nuts, and install
gear case cover screw.
Very little visible oil on the saw chain will provide sufficient
lubrication.
1.
From bottom of gear case, turn adjustment screw (A) clock-
wise to decrease oil volume - anticlockwise to increase oil
volume.
