5.7 DIFFICULTY REMOVING THE GUIDEWIRE

Potential Cause
The combination of delivery system manipulation
and the guidewire port used has prevented the
easy removal of the guidewire from the delivery
system.
Recommended Actions
1. Ensure that the handle is stabilised during
guidewire removal to avoid compromising the
position and stability of the stented section of
the device.
2. Try to remove the guidewire in the opposite
direction to how it was inserted i.e. distal
removal not proximal / proximal removal not
distal.
Note: The direction of guidewire removal may
be compromised by the anatomy.
