Radical cleaning
Procedure
Prewash with hot purified or potable water (60-80ºC) immediately
afterward to end the manufacturing operations to avoid the later
appearance of deposits and incrustations.
Wash in open circuit with purified water, a sodium hydroxide solution or
alkaline detergent, at (60-80ºC), according to the type of waste to be
eliminated.
Wash in closed circuit (with recirculation) under the same conditions as
the previous point.
Rinse in open circuit with hot purified water if the sodium hydroxide or
alkaline detergent solution was used.
Wash cold under cold circuit with disinfectant solution and later rinse with
purified water to eliminate disinfectant leftovers.
Final rinse with hot purified water (60-80ºC). The line must be leak-tight
sealed until use.
Frequency
Whenever there is a change in product, and when it is the same product
and it has been established as such (weekly, after maintenance
operations, etc.).
Ordinary cleaning
Procedure
Prewash with hot purified or potable water (60-80ºC).
Wash in closed circuit with purified water.
Wash in closed circuit with diluted sanitising solution. For example,
sodium hypochlorite solution with 5 ppm of free chloride.
Rinse with hot purified water immediately before starting manufacturing
with the following batch.
Frequency
On a daily basis, given that the product does not change.
Cleaning after period of inactivity
Procedure
Wash in closed circuit with diluted sanitising solution. For example,
sodium hypochlorite solution with 5 ppm of free chloride.
Final rinse with hot purified water (70-80ºC).
Frequency
It is considered that the cleanliness status of a piece of equipment after a
radical cleaning is not indefinitely maintained. Rather, it has a validity
period of from 24 hours to several weeks.
After this period, this cleaning will be applied if it is not deemed
necessary to use radical cleaning.
