Congratulations, You are now the owner of a dehumidifier. Please read these instructions before
operating the unit.
:
Location
Dehumidifiers are designed for use in damp locations and rooms with a humidity problem
like basements, back rooms, cellars, summer residences etc... Keep doors and windows closed for
effective use and position the unit at least 25 cm from walls and other obstructions.
OPERATING YOUR DEHUMIDIFIER
After insuring the water reservoir is properly inserted in its cavity, connect the unit to the main into the proper
electrical receptacle.
HUMIDISTAT
The humidistat turns the unit on or off automatically. Operate initially on constant run until the desired
humidity level is achieved, then turn the control counterclockwise until the unit cycles off. The humidistat will
now automatically maintain the selected level of humidity.
AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF
When the water reservoir is full, the warning light will be "on" to indicate the bucket needs to be emptied.
IMPORTANT. Disconnect the unit from the main before removing the water container. When replacing,
insure the bucket is fully inserted into the unit and the float hanging freely inside for the automatic shut off to
function properly.
AUTOMATIC EMPTYING
The water can be drained automatically by attaching a drain kit (available from your dealer or service depot
) to the threaded connector in the plastic drip tray located above the bucket. Remove the water bucket to
attach the connector and insure the hose drains naturally (not raised higher than the drip tray).
The dehumidifier can also be placed over a floor drain, by removing the water container, the condensate will
drip directly through the hole in the base into the drain.
DUST GUARD
A rear panel with a foam filter prevents dust from clogging the refrigeration coils. This filter should be
cleaned monthly with a vacuum cleaner attachement or by washing with a mild detergent in warm water. The
filter panel is easily removed by flexing it outward in the centre, freeing the tabs in the sides of the cabinet. It
is important to keep the air filter clean to facilitate the air flow. A clogged filter could cause oveheating of the
unit. Replacement filters are available from your local dealer or service depot.
AUTOMATIC DEFROST
When operating in cool conditions (temperatures less than 18°C) humidity which condensate on the
refrigerated coils turns to ice. If the unit is left running, the ice will completely form over the coils and reduce
the dehumidification capacity to almost zero. Your dehumidifier is specially equipped with a defrost timer
which enables the refrigerated coils to be defrosted once per hour. This timer turns off the compressor,
thereby eliminating the refrigeration on the coils. The fan continues to draw air over the coils causing the ice
to melt and drop down into the reservoir. This defrost system allows the unit to function to a temperature as
low as 5°C.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Always disconnect the dehumidifier from the mains before cleaning. When your dehumidifier requires
cleaning, use a vacuum cleaner attachement or brush to clean the front grill. The air drying coil is best
cleaned with a cloth and hot water and the dust guard filter can be washed or vacuumed. The motor is
permanently lubricated and does not require oiling.
IF YOUR DEHUMIDIFIER FAILS TO OPERATE
- Check if the power is coming to the unit. (Check plug and fuse).
- Check if the float is hanging freely and the water reservoir positionned normally.
- Check if the humidistat is turned counterclockwise.
- Check if the bucket is empty and the full light is " off ".
- Check if all operating instructions have been followed.
If your dehumidifier continues to be inoperative, contact your dealer for instructions.
Do not attempt to open the casing or repair the unit yourself.
- WARNING - This appliance must be earthed.
This appliance complies with the suppression requirements of EEC directive 76/889 + 82/499
Recommended limits of use :
