OPERATING-PRESENTATION-INTERFACES
2.1
O
PERATING PRINCIPLE
The design of the battery charger / converter is based on a high-frequency converter that transforms the DC signal 12V,
24, 36V or 48V into regulated and filtered DC signal 12V, 24, 36V or 48V.
Once the type of battery and type of charge has been selected, operation of the battery charger / converter is entirely
automatic (unless otherwise specified by the supplier or the manufacturer of the batteries). It can remain connected to
the batteries and does not need to be disconnected when starting up an engine (marine application), because it is
equipped with an integrated separator.
2.1.1
DC/DC Converter or Charger
The main difference between charger / converter and converter is the fact that in charger / converter mode linked with
battery the device will adapt its output voltage to charge battery through 5-step charging profile (we will see this point
later on).
In converter mode, the input voltage range (ie: 40V-64V for a YPO48-12/40 model) is converted into a regulated, stabilized
and filtered output voltage (12V).
As soon as we talk about BOOST or REFRESH, we are referring to a "battery charger / converter" mode.

Overview presentation
The charger / converters are divided into 2 zones:
•
The user interface zone
•
The energy conversion zone (all maintenance in this area is forbidden except with CRISTEC authorization, under
penalty of warranty termination)
Fixing of the charger / converter is made by 4 x M5 round head screws (screw head diameter less than 10 mm).
Center distance: see corresponding drawing in chapter "Charger / converter overall dimensions"
