changes by briefly pressing the strength selection
button . On the display, 1 stands for a mild
setting, 2 for the medium setting and 3 for a strong
setting. The grinding time is changed accordingly.
• The grinding result is not always the same for
different coffees with different roasts. If the grinding
quantity in any of the settings does not meet your
      GB
individual requirements, a further grinding quantity
fine adjustment is possible (see 3.5 Grinding quanti-
ty fine adjustment).
• The tilt lever on the upper mill housing can be used
to adjust the desired coffee grinding fineness. The
tilt lever has seven detent positions from fine to
coarse .
• After making this setting, start the grinding process
by pressing the GRIND button briefly. The GRIND
button starts to flash slowly. A short warning tone
will sound if the bean container has not been inserted
correctly.
• The mill grinds the set coffee quantity directly into
the filter holder and switches off automatically once
that quantity has been reached.
• Remains of coffee may be left in the ground coffee
chute after the mill has switched off. Pressing the
knocking lever down and then allowing it to spring
up quickly releases coffee from the ground coffee
chute so it falls into the filter holder
• Note: If there are not enough beans, the mill will
switch off automatically. This can occur if the bean
container has been accidentally ground empty or if
the beans do not slide down. This is indicated by a
short warning tone sounding three times and the
GRIND button flashing rapidly. Do not switch off
the appliance. After you fill the bean container, you
can continue the grinding process by briefly pressing
the rapidly flashing GRIND button. The missing
coffee quantity is then ground. If the mill is blocked,
the appliance will also switch off automatically (see
section 6.2 Cleaning the grinder).
• Take the filter holder out of the appliance and level
off the ground coffee heaped in the filter by shaking
the filter holder gently.
• Push the filter holder back onto the top appliance
mounting . Make sure that it engages audibly
3.3 Brewing
• The brewing mode is activated after the mill is
switched off. The BREW LED begins to flash rapidly.
• We recommend pre-brewing the coffee ("blooming")
for the best results. Briefly pressing (<1 sec.) the
PRE-BREW button  before the start of brewing
activates this setting for the subsequent coffee
preparation. The PRE-BREW button lights up
continuously and the water flow is stopped briefly
at the start of brewing after initial damping of the
coffee. Press again to deactivate pre-brewing. The
last setting is stored for the next preparation.
• Start the coffee preparation by pressing the BREW
button briefly (<1 sec.). The BREW button starts to
flash slowly.
• Note: If you hear a brief signal sound three times
during this process, there is no water in the water
tank. If you are unable to start brewing and hear
three short signal sounds despite a full water tank,
briefly raise the water tank and place it back onto
the appliance. This removes air bubbles which may
possibly form during filling.
• During brewing, the water is heated and flows via
11
the rotating outlet onto the coffee powder .
The appliance has stored different brewing profiles
according to the selected number of cups. The ground
coffee is dampened evenly due to different rotation
within the brewing profiles.
• It is also possible to manually control the direction and
time of the rotation during brewing (see 3.6 "Manual
extraction control").
• You will hear a brief signal sound at the end of prepa-
ration. The BREW button will now light up conti-
nuously to indicate the warm-keeping phase.
• The keep-warm plate will keep the coffee hot and
then switch off automatically after 40 minutes to avoid
unnecessary power consumption. You can, of course,
switch off the appliance manually at any time by pres-
sing the BREW button longer (>1 sec.).
• The drip stop prevents coffee continuing to drip when
you remove the jug from the appliance.
• The removable filter holder allows you to dispose of
the filter paper easily and trouble-free.
3.4 Using ready ground coffee
• If you want to prepare ready ground coffee, prepare
the filter as described under 3.1.
• Put ground coffee into the filter paper according to
your taste and the number of cups required. Then
.
k
smooth the surface of the coffee powder as much
as possible. If possible, weigh 6 to 8 g freshly ground
coffee per cup. Next push the filter holder back
into the top appliance mounting. Make sure that it
engages audibly. Activate the appliance with a long
push (> 1 sec.) on the BREW button.
• Adjust the set number of cups to the quantity of
water and coffee used.
• Start the coffee preparation by pressing the BREW
button briefly (<1 sec.). The LED display for the
BREW button starts to flash slowly and the coffee is
prepared as described under 3.3.

has been checked according to the ECBC

standards (www.ecbc.info) and fulfils the demanding
conditions of the "Coffee Brewer Certification Pro-
gramme" in terms of coffee quality.
3.5 Grinding quantity fine adjustment
• The grinding quantity is determined by the number
of cups and the strength setting. Since different
people perceive the brewing strength differently,
you can fine adjust the quantity to a setting other
than the factory setting.
• Press the strength selection button longer (> 1 sec.)
to activate the fine adjustment. LED 2 on the
strength display lights up.
• A subsequent short press (< 1 sec.) on the strength
button will light up LED 3. In this setting, the set
grinding time is increased 10% by the number of
cups and the strength setting. This increases the
grinding quantity.
• A subsequent short press (< 1 sec.) on the strength
selection button will light up LED 2. This shortens
the grinding time by 10% and reduces the grinding
quantity.
• The required setting is stored by pressing the
strength selection button longer (< 1 sec.).
3.6 Manual extraction control
• Manual extraction control is possible after the
outlet starts to rotate.
• Manual extraction control is switched on with a
